Okay, here's my next question. I have Verizon Online DSL. I have Outlook Express as my default e-mail thing. So the mail goes over to Verizon, which kicks it over to Outlook Express (do I have this right???).
Does the Thunderbird thing work like this to??? If I download Thunderbird, can I make that my default email thingee. So I would naturally delete Outlook express, and then if Thunderbird is my default then any emails would first go to Verizon, and then be kicked into the Thunderbird thing. Do I have this right?? Jeez, the stuff you have to learn when you are 60 years old!!!! Years ago, we had something called a telephone. Now they refer to it as a landline. Jeez... lol

Outlook express {OE} & Thunderbird {Tbird} are called "pop" mail clients
short version is they access your Verizon email account and get your messages that way - so when you open OE or Tbird it will either, depending on your set up it, go get the messages or may wait until you click the get messages button - mine is set to get them on opening with my password. that's why you have to put in the account & passwords info when you set them up. If you get tbird you can also import all your OE stuff during setup, just like Firefox did with IE settings. then you would set Tbird as your default email - you can still keep OE but Tbird would be the main use one

Mozilla Thunderbird , mainly because of the better security & built in spam tools.

Okay, let's see if I have this correct. I download Mozilla Thunderbird, and follow prompts, right??
The time I did the Outlook Express, the tech guy had to walk me through this. HOw do I do this Thunderbird thing alone. Will it change my stuff in Outlook and bring it over to Thunderbird?? Do you understand what I'm trying to learn here?? Thanks so much. Melody

If I remember correctly it will import the address book and the mail settings during the set up/install
Pretty much like the firefox did with the IE settings and favorites. but if you get stuck or the settings don't get transferred just ask I'll find the verizon central email section that has the info you need http://netservices.verizon.net/porta...oblem=settings User name settings * Your user name (for example, username@verizon.net) * Your password Mail server settings * Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.yahoo.verizon.net * Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net * Your user name * Your password the messages themselves - if you have any saved you can import them at any time or just keep OE and open it if you need to look up the saved stuff. This will be easier that the very first time with OE because of the importing during setup /install

I thought this started out as a noise problem. I know that fans can become quite noisy, especially if a bearing is burning out. How did it become an OE versus Thunderbird argument? You can get inexpensive replacement fans that are fairly easy to install.
