Default Can I use two computers with my dsl line?

Hello.

My husband never gets off the computer. I'm lucky I can get here and post this question. So here's my dilemma.

I have Verizon Dsl. I have one computer. I once read where you can use two computers on one DSL Line.

So if this is true and someone lends me a laptop (god willing, some day), do I just plug the laptop into one of the phone jacks in my house (no filter, right?) then will I be able to go online (if I install the Verizon software on the laptop). And how do I do this. I think I might still have the Verizon dvd thing when I got the modem.

Does a laptop have it's own modem??

I am completely clueless as to how a lap top gets to go online. I know it has something to do with Wi-fi (I even know that this means wireless fidelity) but I have no idea what THIS means.

But that's not the issue. The issue is "Can I do this without any extra cost?"

So can I get a laptop and go on the internet using my verizon account? How can I do this, and is it free?

Thanks so much

Melody
