Hi, does anybody know if there is a quick and easy way to backup my "My Documents" folder... like online. It's about 13GB with mostly music on it. I'm about to install my RAM and I thought I had better do this, just in case! I am so impatient though, that I might just do and take a chance.

Or am I just being a worry wart.

everyone with a computer that provides important things for you...should have a clone harddrive backup on site. The price has come down to very affordable
levels.

We have one (after we lost a whole system following a tornado -- I had turned off everything, and the next day when I booted up -- a surge ate our surge suppressor and burned out the powerpak of the system which the fried EVERYTHING, the harddrive was not recoverable without mega $$.--- I lost 6mos of work) I still had our old system, that I used to fuel this new system. Now we have a different system, and a back up which we do every night.

When we had major troubles in Dec 07, this system protected everything.
Sometimes I only back up what I have saved, but in Dec we were doing full back ups like mad until we found our problem.

BACK up if your computer holds things dear to you. You can now clone your whole system very inexpensively! All your programs, EVERYTHING!

There is a company called Carbonite that will back up everything on your computer on line. No size limitations. It's encrypted, so should be safe. It's not free, however. Costs about $50 per year. But I'd probably spend more than that on blank CD's to burn an image of my computer onto them. I heard about Carbonite from Kim Komando, the digital goddess.

I installed the RAM without a hitch, and without backing anything up. I used the anti-static wrist band and said a prayer. My computer is so speedy now.

I know I have to be more diligent about backing up. I never did it much before but since I got into music and photography, I have much too much to put on a CD. I should do what you guys are suggesting or buy myself an external hard drive.

are also an option. 2Gig is about 25-30.

But for about 80-100 you can get an external 300gig.
Make sure you get the USB one if you expect to use that port.

Tiger Direct online has examples. Best Buy has 4 types. Like RAM prices
the cost for these external drives is coming down very quickly.

Losing photos forever is a total bummer digitally. I only lost a few with our catastrophe. I use flash drives too, to move things from the laptop to this
unit.

You can use Flickr to store some stuff, it is free if you use below a certain upload amount monthly. That is what my son does. He has a jillion photos,
and he pays for it.
