I have a Power Mac PC, only it's too heavy and out of the way for me try relocating; it's upstairs and I'm downstairs
![]() Within Macs (with a tower), where would someone look for the model type/name? (On mine, I know it's imprinted on the front of the tower and also within the HD.) If someone can give me a step-by-step for locating that info. - for new Mac tower PCs - many thanks! ![]()

have you tried the apple web site?
the support part should have a way to ask questions. *i'm not familiar with mac, but would they all have the model number in the same place?

I've not checked with Apple, but that is a good idea
![]() It's not the model number I'm after, but the model. Like HPs imprint the model either on the casing or keyboard surround-area. That's the info. I'm asking someone, I'm trying to help, to locate. On my Mac, the info. is also stored internally (as with PCs); I just can't remember off the top of my head precisely where it is within Macs. (Maybe someone knows: Do newer Macs have "About" bubble info. when in HD Finder view?)

I didn't have any luck trying to find that info or an image of where to find it on the computer.
![]() If you have the serial number or the model number you should be able to search on those or ask/email apple..and get the model name that way?? You are asking for someone else? Do they have the computer in question or are they looking to buy it???- I'm just confused about why the model type/name is needed.

I'm trying to help a family member who has the machine in question. Easier said that done, huh, when it's long-distance and I can't see the machine.
I've asked for either a screenshot of the desktop (in Finder mode) or a photo of the machine. Once I know which model, I can do the walk-through on a tweak that's needed.

At the top left is the little blue (or rainbow) Apple logo icon. The pull-down menu selection "About this Mac" will give you the system info. Near the bottom of that window there is another button that says, "More info", click on that and it will open the system profiler and list every detail by category.
Hope that helps! ![]()
