I can honestly say, nope, I've never sniffed a keyboard. I'm still not inclined to do so either.
 .To clean mine (tops and sides), I use Q-tips dipped in rubbing alcohol; most of the alcohol is squeezed out first with a paper towel or cotton cloth. Not sure why some keyboards might get stinky, but... well: I'm at a loss for words.
