Default I hate my computer

Oh brother, if I'm not fighting viruses, I'm trying to get back my Outlook Express. It seems that the virus changed Alan's outlook express account and prevented him from sending emails. We went to his block sender list, and sure enough there was a thing there that indicated that he couldn't get any email from anyone with a verizon.net email address. I was shocked. I found this out only after 4 hours with various verizon tech people.

aaarrgggh

And I just noticed that at the top of this page (using Mozilla Firefox), THERE IS NO PLACE TO TYPE IN A WEB ADDRESS.

So how am I supposed to (for example), go to ebay.com?? there is NO PLACE to type in ebay.com

I have to go to a yahoo thing and type in ebay and then I'll get a link. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS.

And there is no place to click on back. Let's say I want to go back a page. I used to go up and click on back, and if I wanted to refresh the page, there was a thing to click on also. These things are gone.

If I want to go back a page, I have to go up to the top of the screen and click on HISTORY, and the first prompt is back.

What the heck is going on.?

If anyone can tell me how to put an address bar up top of the screen (and get back the BACK thingee), I'd sure appreciate this. Thanks much

Melody

Is your tool bar still showing? The - File, Edit, View etc?

if so go to View and check/click the the Navigation option or look at the customize option and see what is there..

some one might have clicked /unclicked those by accident or ???

i clicked on View. There is no place to click on navigation or customize anything.

Lightbulb Try hitting the ALT key.

Other than this I have no clue.

Firefox is different from explorer.

Do you know how to boot up in safe mode?
Does it show there?

try this:

I did the same thing a while back Melody. Go to View and have a look at Toolbars. On mine I have everything ticked, but that's just the way mine's set up. If anything's unticked, try ticking it and see what happens.

Hi. Who Moi helped me out. I right clicked on help at the top of the page, then I clicked on Navigation and

VOILA.

there it was.

So BIG KUDOS to Who Moi!!!!

Now I am going to kill Alan, I really am.

Yesterday morning I spent over 4 hours with the verizon tech people because my Internet Security Suite is not doing what it's supposed to do. I think there is still a remnant of that nasty 2008 virus on my computer. That's why it combined the two Outlook Express accounts BUT THE GUYS FIXED THAT. Now everything was working just fine (when I went to bed last night).

I was to get a call at 11 a.m. this morning from the guys at Radial Point (the Antivirus people), they always fix my antivirus software. They are from Verizon. They are a special group of antivirus software tech guys.

Well, Last night, alan goes on the Internet , I wake up this morning to a completely different computer.

No more old desktop, now there's a space station on my computer. Instead of the hour glass, there is a spacecraft so when I move the mouse, the spacecraft moves all around the screen.

My icons are teeny tiny things. and Half of my icons are gone. I had a different home page, I could not access any of my programs.

I went back into the bedroom, woke him up, (he had gone to bed at 5), and I couldn't give a crap. I gave it to him.

He thinks I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. He said: "but you know how to fix stuff". I yelled "I was on that computer for over 4 hours yesterday, and you know we are getting the call from Radial Point, but now I can't access anything and the guy can't help me".

It's like for example, I do not drive. Imagine giving me the keys to a car and telling me to go and have a good time. Alan had a good time BUT SCREWED UP MY COMPUTER.

I did a system restore. THANK GOD.

It's all back.

I now want to do the thing where he can't make any changes.

It's putting in a password so only I can make changes to settings, fonts, etc.

HOW DO I DO THIS.???

Before we get a divorce.

Melody

Thank goodness for Moi!

I'm thinking you may need to become a two computer household Melody....with passwords for each of you if you're going to continue being a happily married couple.

It's good to now you have it operational again, and I agree.....Alan should not be sleeping while you're pulling your hair out trying to work out his alterations.

Wink It is TIME....

it is time to get Alan his OWN unit.

Let him mess with it to his heart's content, and then he can
fix his own experiments!

Just my opinion!

I couldn't agree with you more. I told him "you are getting a laptop". you can screw around with THAT!!!

He actually looked at me and said "you know I went to sleep at 5am, why are you sweating the small stuff?

Oh, I am going to kill him for sure (right after I make him his fresh squeezed juice from my Juiceman Juicer). Is arsenic legal???
