Someone correct me but I think that invite-only social groups are still visible to all, but only the members of the group can participate in it.
I'll go create one and not invite anyone just as a test.

There is a tab to approve posts. Maybe only members of the group can post to it?
Better let my mom do this. I'm supposed to be cleaning my room.

hmmm, I assumed that private would be private, meaning it wouldn't show to all...only show to the ones that joined...

Hi Jo.
The 3 tabs I got when I made the group, were invite, public and moderation. I didn't see one that said private.

Maybe it has to do with the following?
Group Options Enable Albums Enable Messages Maybe you have to not click on enable messages? Would that keep the group invisible?

Oh that's right I got invite mixed up w/ private or I guess I assumed
 again that invite only would mean private..
