Use a product called AVG Its Free and will help. Also use a free program called AdawareSE for spyware. Then theres also spysweeper.

This always happens to folks who dont take Security seriousely. I dont mean to sound like no one does, But just haveing an antivirus software program isnt enough. You NEED to use windows update EVERY week, or have it set to Auto update every week, You also NEED a firewall, A good one is zonealarm. Run it 24/7. Internet explorer is full of security holes, it would be a good idea to try a browser called Mozilla Firefox. It also lets you Import your Internet Explorer Favorites.

I work on ALOT of computers, and this is a common problem. Its really noones fault, But Its just a lack of security on the owners part most of the time. Always keep your Anti virus softwares Definitions up to date weekly.

For the record, Nortons is a waste of money, along with Mcafee. Use AVG 7.0 and Zonelabs Zonealarm for your firewall. Use AdawareSE for spyware and also use Spysweeper.

Sorry for the long post, But i hate to see people go through this when its so avoidable. Remember, Treat the internet like EVERYONE is out to get you. Because quite frankly, Just visiting a site or just clicking on a link(on a site, in a AOL IM or Yahoo IM will give you spyware or viruses).

If anyone needs some links i could possibly dig them up. Just PM me and ill try to find them again.

CleanUPp 4.0 works amazinly well, too.... However, if you have a lot of favorite links you like to visit just by going to the "favorites" list, you may want to have a physical copy somewhere..... My list dissapears every few days.

Thumbs up Another free download

Hi everyone:

Spybot Search and Destroy is excellent too. Free download. Does a good job and used by many. I have never had a problem with it.

Kaspersky and Trend Micro, with AdAware or Spybot Search & Destroy- ought to handle just about what you need.

you can also try downloading - stinger - a free virus product
Be careful with any spyware product you find, NOT listed at Majorgeeks. His is the only place I trust to find what I need. Members of that site's forum are members of ASAP

When I downloaded a copy of Spybot from Download.com a few years ago, it had a virus, the copies at Majorgeeks were clean. But it taught me one lesson, ALWAYS scan whatever I download from ANY place and always read the EULA.

Here is a list of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites. Liz

If you need help with your computer, as in getting spyware or virii off it, go to one of the forums on this list: ASAP It's in alphabetical order so those at the tiop are no better or worse than those further down the list.
