Could somebody please tell me how to set my computer to automatically clear the cache on shut down?
I mostly use Firefox, but occassionally go to Internet Explorer if FF is causing problems. Thank you.

Good evening, Koala.
![]() I don't use Explorer at all and don't remember although I can probably find it on the net. In Firefox I went to Tools, Options, Privacy. [I've noticed that different versions tend to have slightly different set-up, but you should be able to work it out by going to Tools then Options and go from there.] In Privacy, you can check certain options. There's History, Cookies, and Private Data. In the Private Data area, it gives you options again to check and also in Settings you can choose what you wish to do. P.S. It also says "Ask me before clearing private data". Personally that is something I check, just so that I know it gets done. There's also a button there says "Clear Now". I sometimes just click it for fun even if I'm not shutting down. ![]() |

I use Firefox but occasionally I'm forced to use IE. I have these options set in Explorer to clear out everything when I close the browser.
1. Open Internet Explorer, choosing "Tools" - "Internet Options". 2. From the multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, click "Advanced". 3. Scroll down to "Security". 4. Check "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed". 5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box. |

I followed your instructions and changed my settings on both FF and IE, and then closed them down. It worked!
Thank you both very much.

I use IE.
Another option, it will clear it all, even saved passwords if you want. Open Tools. Then Internet Options. General Tab should be the first one opened. When you click the Delete button under Browsing History, another box will pop up and give you the choice of what to clear. I clear them all. I have passwords written down. ![]()
