When I was little
They said a certain man
Had a monkey on his back;
I thought they meant a real monkey.
I didn’t know
How that monkey got on his back;
I wondered if it scratched and bit
And reached to grab his food.
I wondered if it squawked and chattered,
And why no one plucked it off his back.
I was so relieved to learn
The monkey wasn’t real.

I knew that man;
He never got to be as old as I am now.
I think he must have wished
To trade for a real monkey.
It might have bit and scratched,
But it wouldn’t have killed him.

Next tag - funeral flowers

Wonderful insight B2Y but I think funeral flowers has already been done. I am relatively sure since I did them.

Well Actually it was Flowers but I did it about a funeral. did you know that a TAG is supposed to be only one word?? If you make it two, it makes it too specific and more difficult to come up with something. Took me a while to figure that out but it's true.

>TAG< chickadee

one word? news to me I've done tag poems on intergalactic express , tribal warfare, first kiss, spring flowers, the whole idea of tag is to get the brain juices flowing and creativeness flowing, thats the purpose of tag, force you to be creative, originally it was a chat room game I played for years on aol, sometimes tag subjects may duplicate that happens, I say we all could write a poem on same subject at same time and I bet all of them would be different, from perspective and from direction the poem goes, I always enjoyed when we would sit in the chat room and we all added one sentence to a poem, we as a group came up with some wild and some dang good ones, it sort of like that story line thread, in the games sectiobn, just add 5 words and keep the story line going, I am not trying to step on any toes, just wanted to express the idea is to create and use the noggin, I got MS and do everything i can to keep my brain sharper than a spoon

chickadees so sweet is their song
hearing it on a path i walk along
they dart to and fro, fast as a nuthatch
flitting from branch to branch and through the thatch
so small so frail, their markings so pretty to see
one of my favorite birds in a chickadee

tag subject

summer storms

Yes you are Frank. That's Exactly what you are doing. I too have played this game on many different sites and the One Word Tag has always been the rule. See how much MORE restricted you are with "Summer Storms" than if you said Either "Summer" or "Storms" ? You won't admit it but it's true. I am not trying to step on any toes either.

ok you two. Got one for you,. I not stepping on anyones toes i hope?

BLUE OCTOBER

Now blue October, smokey in the sun,

Must end the long sweet summer of the heart.

The last brief visit of the birds is done,

They sing an auntumn song before they part.

Listen, how lovely, there is the thrush we heard

When June was filled with roses.

And the bending blossoms covered branches

To shelter nests, holding music of the birds.

Give me your hand, once more before the night,

See how the meadows darken with the frost.

How fades the green that was the summer light,

Beauty is only altered, never lost!!!!!!

nancy

hope that was ok Wiix, and weegot5kiz????????
