I had originally got the idea from somewhere online. But they were pre-made and around $30.00 per bracelet. The problem was they came with emblems. I am registered as a member with medicalert, so I got the emblem that I could use dual clasps with and change bands as needed and use the same emblem (it has my member id and stuff on it).

So the other place was selling an ID Bracelet that was not registered (by law, they weren't allowed to engrave the medicalert id's because of contract crap or somesuch). This caused an issue for me, as it would be expensive. Many know with Epilepsy your medicine can change A LOT, so having my meds engraved would run me a monthly fee to keep changing emblems. With medicalert, I have my ID number, when my meds change I call them and they update my account associated with my ID.

Their standard band is ugly and loud. If you look at their gold versions, they are around $600.00 which is a bit too much for me. I bought the $9.99 titanium band and emblem and after a small injury (darn clasp) I removed the band and started making my own that I could change daily.

The fun with beads is that you can make stuff to match. Like right now, I am working on a necklace and then earrings to match the green glass bead band.

Heck, if I'm stuck at home and stuck with this ugly bracelet - I may as well dress it up and enjoy myself.

With $40.00 I bought around 20 bead types (color packages) along with the string and clasps and I could make around 100 or so. It's around 50 bucks to get the medicalert yearly membership along with the 9.99 cheapo emblem. So for $100.00 bucks I can be safe and still have my pretty jewelry.

So while that lady charged 30 bucks for an unregistered bracelet that I am happy I didn't buy, I was able to get the supplies to make a motherload of stuff.

Yay!
