Hi Cordy,

Ugh..... :/

Ideally the root should be extracted as soon as possible after the incident of it breaking off.

That root is infected and there was infection already in the bone which was determined by the xray at the time of the extraction. So yes, there is a potential (not a definite) for it to become a larger infection.

Is there any way you can get in to see an OS sooner? Can you see a private one rather than at the hospital?

A few months ago I had a tooth extraction which has now healed fine. The problem is I decided to have a tooth extraction on another tooth which was infected at the root tip. The tooth had a post crown which snapped off during the extraction leaving the root behind. The dentist didn't feel able to remove the root and is referring me to hospital which will take many weeks.

The root is now cracked and my worry is that it will be even more prone to a worse infection than was currently there. I now feel in a worse situation than before the extraction was performed. I have a gap, a cracked root and it will be many weeks before someone can even look at it. Will it be OK until I see the surgeon at the hospital or should I be really worried and expect a serious infection to develop now.
