Extraction was on Friday. I was very nervous and emotional. Surgeon cut through the bridge and extracted the teeth. He scraped the infection. I could feel that. I hope this is what was so important after the extraction.
I feel some sinus pressure and sensations which I had as a ongoing problem even before the extraction. What worries me is low grade fever today. The same I had before extraction. The gums are sore and purple. I've just finished the antibiotics yesterday.
I've got partial dentures and that is a struggle. Tomorrow going to the dentist to adjust dentures a bit.
I hope everything is ok.
I would like to attach some of my x-ray to check for the teeth next to the extraction teeth. My memory is not excellent so I don't know if I have more rc teeth.
I know I've had one on the upper left side but I extracted it last year. The x-rays are before that extraction so on the x-rays it could be one rc tooth. I really don't want any rc teeth in my mouth.

Hi Maija,

Soreness and discoloration of the gum are normal. The low grade fever can also be normal. Make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day as this will keep you hydrated, flush out the toxins and help reduce the fever.

Thank you for posting the x-rays. It is difficult to tell which side of your mouth is shown in these xrays. On the second xray you do have another root canaled tooth on a pre molar which appears to have a silver point in one of the roots that has possibly perforated the root tip. This tooth is in direct relation with your sinuses. Whether the root or point has perforated the sinus that cannot be determined by this xray. There are also some distinct markings on the xrays that are either pieces of metal points or artifacts. I cannot tell which from these views.

On the first xray the area in the bone where the previously extracted teeth were removed does not look healthy. Has anyone talk to you about that area of bone?

Look at the xrays and tell me which one is your right side and which one is your left side as they may be shown here backwards.

First x-ray is my right side. 2 teeth missing since 2009. Those were also rc teeth from long time ago. No one told me bone is not healthy. Those were 8 and 7. Then on Friday I had an extraction of 9 and 10 for which I asked for help in my first post. So second x-ray is my left side after the 8 and 9 which I extracted on Friday. There was a rc tooth which I extracted last year ( I think number 13). This is a bit old x-ray.

PS Just to ask about more detailed explanation of 'not healthy' bone. I know what not healthy mean but What should I do? What that means?

Okay thanks for clarifying the sides.

On the one xray that you have provided, the bone in the areas of what you are calling #7 and 8 has not filled in properly. It does not appear to be solid which would indicate a possible long term infection. Sometimes these infections are known as cavitations. These can occur from the infection in root canaled teeth, apicoectomy surgeries, or inadequate scraping of the bone when the teeth were extracted.

An oral surgeon should take a new xray of that area and compare it to the one that you have to see if there has been any positive change in the bone.

I am going to do a new xray. What are my options if the situation is the same? Is there a chance that the xrays are no good quality? Is there any supplements or vitamins I could take? How can I clear infection, is there any way?

Marija,

The quality of these xrays are not that great. All dental xrays are limited to only a 2 dimensional view. So the view is dependent upon the angle of the xray beam. However, it is fairly apparent on that xray that the bone in the area of #7 and 8 had not healed well at the time of that xray. A new one should be taken to compare.

The problem with long term inflammation and infection in the jaw bone is that it can be very difficult to get rid of completely due to the abundance of blood vessels that transport the bacteria from one space to another. There are lots of tiny spaces in the bone for the bacteria to go into.

Sometimes an oral surgeon will do some surgery to remove the bone that has deteriorated, other times that is not recommended. But even the surgery is no guarantee that the infection will be cured. It really depends on the individual case. There are no supplements that you can take to cure it. You can improve your immune system through proper nutrition, drinking lots of water, taking probiotics and supplements like vitamin C, vitamin D3, a good multi vitamin twice a day ... things like that.

I am sorry to even share this information with you as I know it is very scary and I know you have not been feeling well. You need to see a very good oral surgeon who will thoroughly evaluate your dental health. If you could find one who has a dual degree meaning they are a dentist and also an MD, that might be helpful.

I went to the OS who did the extraction because I started to have bad face pain and pressure, like a sinus pain. Generally feel sick and still have low grade fever on and off. OS said that I must be having sinus infection that has nothing to do with the extracted teeth. And sent me home. I went to general practitioner who then said it's not sinuses and it must be teeth. He said they were recently extracted and causing this face pain and pressure. He prescribe Augmentin.
I am so desperate and don't feel well at all.
I know I need more time after the extraction to maybe feel better. OS said he will do some xrays of my front theeth when I said that I am concern about my jaw bone. And he will do it in 6 weeks time to let the extraction site heal a bit.

I would suggest that you not wait the 6 weeks and see an different oral surgeon as xrays need to be taken of the 7 and 8 area to compare to the older one as that area of bone may be infected. If it is, then no amount of antibiotics is going to cure it. Repeating antibiotics is not wise unless there is a definitive diagnosis and reason to take them. Antibiotics can make you very sick and cause intestinal infection.

Please see a different OS, one that is not associated with the one that you went to.

Thanks for posting the xrays. I suggest you have all new xrays done of your mouth to compare them to these old ones.
