Default Abscesses and Extraction Alternatives?

Hello.
I posted here a few months ago following a root canal prior to finding this site and subsequent abscess...and had the tooth retreated with...yes...another root canal even after reading time and time again I needed to have it extracted.

That abscess has now gone but TWO appeared last week with other teeth. Molar #18 and #31 which happened to be right next to #30 which had the abscess in June and again in Oct.

The dentist has said I now need two more root canals. I am trying not to make the same mistake again but before I consent to drastic treatment need to know:

A. if there is anything humanly possible to try prior to extracting not one but now three teeth. Even typing that takes my breath away.

B. Why is this happening all at once?
I have several teeth I knew needed work as of xrays taken in July but these two were not among them. One has a crack and a 30 yr old amalgam filling so I presume that is partially to blame...the other composite but I don't understand all the abscesses. I am terrified this is suddenly going to happen to all of them.

I feel sick, scared and angry....like many in the dental profession are part of some sick Ponzi scheme not here to help but to profit from the misery of others.

I hope I am wrong.
