covertid,
Warm salt water is ideal for many reasons. One- it reduces bad bacteria, two- it will not interfere with the healing of the wound and three- you do not have to worry about any allergic type reaction from chemicals. Chlorhexidine kills bacteria and cannot differentiate between the good and bad bacteria. You need good bacteria to heal properly. Chlorhexidine is a harsh chemical and can irritate the tissue. It can also cause an allergic type reaction in many people. The simplest, most therapeutic rinse for oral wound care is warm salt water. Bryanna
