Thumbs up Planning for the extraction of 3 RC teeth - Bryanna - need your precious comments

Planning for the extraction of 3 RC teeth - Bryanna please send some of your soothing guidance my way
I have read on Internet what RC does to the tooth - I'm not going to risk having them especially as I plan for a baby sometime in the near future. I have read holistic health angel (Bryanna)'s reply to many of the posts here and now I have a checklist to ask the dentists before committing to them. First of all, there are no biological dentists in country/state/district (India - Karnataka - Ban galore). By the way if anyone here knows a holistic dentist in this area, please let me know
For the moment, all I can do is go to the regular dentist and when I do this, I can't even tell the truth of why I'm asking for RC removal. I plan simply say that I prefer removable dentures in the place of RC and that I have strong feeling that my RCs may fail in the near future - ex: during pregnancy etc. (Yes, I do have occasional allergic reactions, rashes etc., but unless the dentist is holistic they are going to think I'm mad for making the connection between overall health and RC. I have decent health and owe this to Homeopathy and eating organic and thinking positive at least 51% of the time )
I intend to select the dentist based on the questions Bryanna has suggested in some other post: (copy pasting her reply here)
Checkpoint 1)Unless he is an oral surgeon, ask him if he performs oral surgery on a regular basis? (I have read your previous posts and understand how important it is to go to a dental surgeon, I believe I have found one)
Checkpoint 2) Does he remove the periodontal ligament, debride the socket of all necrotic tissue and bone and rinse with copious amounts of saline? Very important question, I will first wait and see if the dentist mentions this himself when I ask for the detailed procedure followed to remove RC, if he doesn't mention that I will probe further.
Bryanna, what if the infection has not touched the bone in my case, then there is no need for them to remove / scrap any bone I suppose?
Can we know this in advance if I ask for Radiography on RC teeth? I doubt whether that technology is available here - the best I can get might be a digital x ray? Is that OK?

Checkpoint 3) Does he place bone grafts, if so, what material does he recommend using and why? (is this necessary Bryanna? Please tell me if I can skip this step and use Homeo to heal? I really don't want some other animal's bone in my body ! What do I know about the source? What if that animal had disease ? I know I'm asking crazy questions ! Apologies)
Thanks Bryanna for these pointers.
Now I have few more questions, if you kindly spare some of your precious time, it would help me so much Bryanna

Information about my 3 RC teeth:
Tooth 1: This is the lower - left molar right next to wisdom teeth. The wisdom tooth has come out beautifully but it is now really crunched for space and 1/4th of it hasn't come out yet. I'm already seeing something black there (very slight) hope it is just a stain and the dentist will agree to remove it...my hope is removal of the RC teeth might actually make space for this wisdom teeth.
Tooth 2: This is the lower - right molar next but one to the wisdom teeth which has 3/4th of it hidden - again no space. Again I'm hoping removing this RC tooth will make space for it! (Yes, both my lower wisdom teeth seem to be coming out straight)
Tooth 3: Upper right molar right above the Tooth 2 (next but one to the upper right wisdom teeth). Here I'm concerned about what to do about the missing teeth once I get the RC removed - because I have no wisdom teeth to hopefully take its place (both the upper wisdom teeth are removed for me). Maybe I can go for nesbit here? (I have read a previous post - year 2012 - talking about nesbit)
With this my final hope is eating does not become a problem and my jaw bone does not weaken ! Of course I will have to heavily relay on Homeo (calc carb, calc phos, silicea, calc flour etc which should all help the bones and gums) and I also plan to get attuned to Reiki sometime this month and practice regularly !
Question to Bryanna: negative long-term consequences of missing teeth are that your jaw gradually shrinks until you can't wear any removable appliance is what the dentists say - but my Grand ma is now 87 years old - she is wearing complete denture from last 35 years - yet her jaw hasn't shrunk - how is this possible then? Why can't everyone achieve the same by simply wearing a nesbit (if a single tooth is missing?)

Bryanna, I do feel guilty about taking your time and writing such a long post , but honestly you are the only one I can talk about this.
I knew a lady who has studied dentistry, but does not practice...so I thought it would be safe to discuss with her...I sent her some of the links on dangers of RC....and you know what happened? She simply stopped responding to me, looks like she does not even want to keep in touch with me now Lol or maybe she got freaked out as she also has a RC In fact every other person has a RC !!
One last question - do you feel I'm doing the right thing ? (I think I have to do this if I have to sleep peacefully, how can I be happy knowing that immune system and body is constantly under stress and has to work harder because of 3 RC teeth)
Thank You so much for all the wonderful people here on NeuroTalk and a warm Thank you to the holistic health Angel Bryanna

AH2015,

I'm sorry for the delay in replying to you. I am only a volunteer and I spend as much time as I can here in between working, school, and family life. Please try to be patient with me. Thank you

I will now read your lengthy post and reply as soon as I have time to do that. I hope you understand.

AH2015,

I will re post some of your thread and reply in bold type.

<<I have read on Internet what RC does to the tooth - I'm not going to risk having them especially as I plan for a baby sometime in the near future.>>

IT IS WISE TO BE AS HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE PRIOR TO BECOMING PREGNANT.

<<For the moment, all I can do is go to the regular dentist and when I do this, I can't even tell the truth of why I'm asking for RC removal. I plan simply say that I prefer removable dentures in the place of RC and that I have strong feeling that my RCs may fail in the near future - ex: during pregnancy etc.>>

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT HAVING A REASON TO REMOVE YOUR RC TEETH. IF YOU GET TOO INVOLVED WITH PREFERRING REMOVABLE DENTURES AND YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT FAILURE OF THE ROOT CANALS THIS IS WHEN YOU MAY GET SOME OPPOSITION AS THE DENTISTS DON'T THINK THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THEM. BUT IF YOU BELIEVE DIFFERENTLY, THAN JUST SAY YOU ARE CONCERNED THAT HAVING DEAD TEETH IN MY MOUTH COULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO MY HEALTH AND I CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE THAT RISK.

<< (Yes, I do have occasional allergic reactions, rashes etc., but unless the dentist is holistic they are going to think I'm mad for making the connection between overall health and RC. I have decent health and owe this to Homeopathy and eating organic and thinking positive at least 51% of the time )>>

ALLERGIC REACTIONS AND RASHES CAN INDICATE SOME ISSUES WITH YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM. HEALTHY PEOPLE GENERALLY DO NOT HAVE ALLERGIES OR RASHES. SO PERHAPS YOU ARE ALLERGIC OR SENSITIVE TO SOME FOODS THAT YOU ARE EATING, SOME SOAPS, DETERGENTS, PERFUME, CLOTHING... ETC. THAT YOU ARE UNAWARE OF? HOMEOPATHY IS NOT TO BE TAKEN IN PLACE OF NUTRITION OR IN PLACE OF LIVING WITH CONSTANT ALLERGENS. SO PERHAPS YOU COULD SEE A HOMEOPATHIC PHYSICIAN TO HELP YOU WITH THE ALLERGIES AND RASHES?
BECAUSE THE BODY IS SO INTRICATELY CONNECTED TO THE MOUTH, ANYTIME YOU HAVE CHRONIC INFLAMMATION IN YOUR MOUTH IT IS GOING TO AFFECT YOUR BODY ELSEWHERE. I THINK YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT. RC TEETH ARE CHRONICALLY INFLAMED TEETH. SO THEY MAY NOT BE YOUR ONLY CORRELATION TO ALLERGIES, ETC, BUT THEY MAY BE A PART OF THAT.

<<I intend to select the dentist based on the questions Bryanna has suggested in some other post: (copy pasting her reply here)
Checkpoint 1)Unless he is an oral surgeon, ask him if he performs oral surgery on a regular basis? (I have read your previous posts and understand how important it is to go to a dental surgeon, I believe I have found one)>>

OKAY, GOOD.

<<Checkpoint 2) Does he remove the periodontal ligament, debride the socket of all necrotic tissue and bone and rinse with copious amounts of saline? Very important question, I will first wait and see if the dentist mentions this himself when I ask for the detailed procedure followed to remove RC, if he doesn't mention that I will probe further. >>

DO NOT WAIT FOR THE DENTIST TO OFFER THIS INFORMATION TO YOU AS HE IS NOT GOING TO. YOU WILL HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO BRING IT UP BY STATING THAT YOU WANT THIS DONE.

<<Bryanna, what if the infection has not touched the bone in my case, then there is no need for them to remove / scrap any bone I suppose? >>

IRRELEVANT AS TO WHETHER THE BONE IS INFECTED OR NOT, ALL EXTRACTIONS SHOULD BE THOROUGH WHICH INCLUDES DEBRIDING THE BONE THOROUGHLY.

<<Can we know this in advance if I ask for Radiography on RC teeth? I doubt whether that technology is available here - the best I can get might be a digital x ray? Is that OK?>>

YOU DEFINITELY NEED RADIO GRAPHS OF THESE TEETH PRIOR TO EXTRACTING THEM. DO NOT LET ANYONE ATTEMPT TO EXTRACT THEM WITHOUT RADIO GRAPHS. YES, DIGITAL RADIO GRAPHS ARE FINE AS THEY HAVE THE SAME PROPERTIES AS ANY OTHER 2 DIMENSIONAL RADIO GRAPHS AND THEY HAVE LESS RADIATION.

<< 3) Does he place bone grafts, if so, what material does he recommend using and why?>>

BONE GRAFTING SHOULD IDEALLY BE PLACED IN HEALTHY BONE ONLY. NOT BONE THAT IS UNHEALTHY. YOU WOULD NEED TO DISCUSS WITH THE DENTIST WHAT GRAFT MATERIAL IS AVAILABLE TO YOU. SOME DENTISTS ONLY USE WHAT THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH. THERE REALLY IS NO PREFERENCE UNLESS YOU SPECIFICALLY WANT NON ANIMAL OR CADAVER DERIVED BONE WHICH WOULD BE REFERRED TO AS SYNTHETIC MATERIAL.

<< Please tell me if I can skip this step and use Homeo to heal?>>

BONE GRAFTING IS PLACED TO HELP ENCOURAGE THE GROWTH OF NEW BONE. THE GRAFT LITERALLY BECOMES ONE WITH YOUR NEW BONE. GRAFTING AND HOMEOPATHY HAVE TWO DIFFERENT PURPOSES. ONE DOES NOT REPLACE THE OTHER.

<<I really don't want some other animal's bone in my body ! What do I know about the source? What if that animal had disease ?>>

THE GRAFT MATERIAL DERIVED FROM CADAVERS AND ANIMALS IS VERY STERILE. THERE IS A VERY MARGINAL RISK IF ANY OF DISEASE TRANSMISSION. BUT SOME PEOPLE PREFER NON ANIMAL OR CADAVER MATERIAL FOR PERSONAL REASONS.

<Information about my 3 RC teeth>>
<<Tooth 1: This is the lower - left molar right next to wisdom teeth. The wisdom tooth has come out beautifully but it is now really crunched for space and 1/4th of it hasn't come out yet. I'm already seeing something black there (very slight) hope it is just a stain and the dentist will agree to remove it...my hope is removal of the RC teeth might actually make space for this wisdom teeth.>>

THIS IS RC TOOTH #18. WHEN AND WHY WAS IT ROOT CANALED?
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE WISDOM TOOTH IS GOING TO COME UP ALL THE WAY. IF IT HAS DECAY, IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE IT RESTORED.

<<Tooth 2: This is the lower - right molar next but one to the wisdom teeth which has 3/4th of it hidden - again no space. Again I'm hoping removing this RC tooth will make space for it!>>

THIS IS TOOTH #31 IF IT IS NEXT TO THE WISDOM TOOTH. WHEN AND WHY WAS THIS TOOTH ROOT CANALED? AGAIN NO GUARANTEE THE WISDOM TOOTH WILL MOVE UP ALL THE WAY.

<<(Yes, both my lower wisdom teeth seem to be coming out straight)>>

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT TO BE TRUE?

<<Tooth 3: Upper right molar right above the Tooth 2 (next but one to the upper right wisdom teeth). >>

IF THE TOOTH IS NEXT TO THE WISDOM TOOTH IT IS #2. WHEN AND WHY WAS THIS TOOTH ROOT CANALED?

<<Here I'm concerned about what to do about the missing teeth once I get the RC removed - because I have no wisdom teeth to hopefully take its place (both the upper wisdom teeth are removed for me).>>

YOU WILL HAVE A SPACE WHERE #2 USE TO BE. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT TOOTH MISSING AND NOT BEING REPLACED.

<< Maybe I can go for nesbit here? (I have read a previous post - year 2012 - talking about nesbit)>

NO A NESBIT NEEDS AN ANCHOR TOOTH ON EACH SIDE OF THE SPACE TO HOLD IT IN PLACE.

<<With this my final hope is eating does not become a problem and my jaw bone does not weaken ! >>

DO YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR OTHER TEETH ASIDE FROM THE UPPER AND LOWER RIGHT WISDOM TEETH? IF SO, THEN YOU MAY NOT MISS THESE TEETH AT ALL AS FAR AS CHEWING GOES.

<<Of course I will have to heavily relay on Homeo (calc carb, calc phos, silicea, calc flour etc which should all help the bones and gums) and I also plan to get attuned to Reiki sometime this month and practice regularly !>>

YES, TO ALL OF THAT! I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET GUIDANCE FROM A HOMEOPATHIC PRACTITIONER AS TO WHAT REMEDIES TO USE AND HOW TO USE THEM PROPERLY.

<<Question to Bryanna:]negative long-term consequences of missing teeth are that your jaw gradually shrinks until you can't wear any removable appliance is what the dentists say - but my Grand ma is now 87 years old - she is wearing complete denture from last 35 years - yet her jaw hasn't shrunk - how is this possible then?>>

YOUR GRANDMA'S JAW HAS RECEDED OVER THE LAST 35 YEARS. SHE IS JUST USE TO THE GRADUAL CHANGES THAT HAVE OCCURRED. ANY TIME A TOOTH IS EXTRACTED THERE IS GOING TO BE BONE LOSS. BONE GRAFTING HELPS REDUCE THE LOSS BY ABOUT 50% IF IT IS SUCCESSFUL. ANY TIME YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE TOOTH REMOVED IN ONE AREA, LIKE 2 OR MORE TEETH NEXT TO EACH OTHER, THE MORE BONE LOSS THERE WILL BE. SO PEOPLE WITH COMPLETE DENTURES SLOWLY LOSE A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THE INTEGRITY OF THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH OF THE JAW BONE

<< Why can't everyone achieve the same by simply wearing a nesbit (if a single tooth is missing?>>

A NESBIT IS A SINGLE TOOTH APPLIANCE. IT IS WORN TO HOLD THE SPACE OPEN SO THE ADJACENT TEETH DO NOT MOVE CROOKED TOWARDS THE OPEN SPACE. IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE EATEN WITH AS IT CAN BE A CHOKE HAZARD BECAUSE IT IS VERY SMALL. YOU NEED COMPLETE TEETH ON EACH SIDE OF THE SPACE TO HOLD A NESBIT. NEITHER ANCHOR TOOTH CAN BE COVERED IN GUM TISSUE.

<<Bryanna, I do feel guilty about taking your time and writing such a long post , but honestly you are the only one I can talk about this.>>

IT'S OKAY! DO NOT FEEL GUILTY. I WILL DO THE BEST THAT I CAN TO ANSWER YOU AS PROMPTLY AS POSSIBLE

<<One last question - do you feel I'm doing the right thing ? (I think I have to do this if I have to sleep peacefully, how can I be happy knowing that immune system and body is constantly under stress and has to work harder because of 3 RC teeth)>>

YOU DON'T HAVE TO CONVINCE ME ABOUT THE SYSTEMIC RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH ROOT CANALED TEETH AS I AM WELL AWARE OF THEM. BUT THIS IS YOUR MOUTH AND YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT REMOVING THESE TEETH WILL BENEFIT YOUR HEALTH IN THE LONG RUN. IT'S YOUR DECISION.

Bryanna

Thank You so much Bryanna for your response. I find your words to be very wise and helpful and I'm glad I have got your response before my first appointment with the dentist - I will firmly state my belief that I dont want dead tooth in my mouth - and no other reasons - simple as that Thank You Bryanna.

My allergic rashes (to be specific housewife's eczema that I'm currently bothered with) are really not due to any other external stuff - I eat organic, use soapnut and other natural things for bathing and avoid even cosmetics like lipstick! It is something internal that is taxing my body - I can feel it - I'm pretty confident my health will bounce back if my RC teeth are removed PROPERLY.

From what you have said - I believe my upper teeth can be accomodated by nesbit - it is next but one to the wisdom tooth and has 2 healthy tooth (not covered in tissues) on either side. (to ensure front upper teeth wont develop gap)

I will get my half emerged wisdom tooth cleaned (hoping to preserve it)

I will update my progress here and hopefully it will help others too - to get this done when they dont have access to biological dentists.

Once again thank you for being so kind and helping out so many people here Bryanna.

Default How my teeth got RC...

Sorry Bryanna, I realized now that I didn't answer your question how my teeth ended up with RC treatment...the first visit to dentist at the age of 15 or so for a mercury filling started at all...2 years later the amalgum filling had fallen off and the tooth already weakened by mercury easily deteriorated and a RC followed...then another filling and another RC at the age of 19....then some more stupidity and ignorance on my part (It surprises me how the so called educated middle class families dont even think twice when the dentist suggests RC...if it is surgery on any other part they would have taken a 2nd opinion)

3rd one ... directly above the RC teeth gave me problems...decayed (not sure why-(who knows? the bacteria from the RC tooth could have spread to the root of the healthy tooth) and I was 27 at that time and asked the dentist to pull the teeth (no ... not because I had the knowledge) but the dentist still went ahead with an RC !!

Generally it is believed (at least in dental community) that your dental health reflects the overall health...and I believe this to be true. But in my family's case it is pretty strange...no major diseases at all...people are strong and healthy in their 60s and 70s they work and play like they are in their 30s (maybe because of homeopathy) (ex: my parents, my aunt etc) but unfortunately all these people have loads of mercury in their teeth and multiple RCs done recently...my Aunt who is 67 and is very healthy got an RC done last month (I didn't know about this till the procedure was over)...I feel scared they are all sitting on a time bomb...sorry I veered off the question completely and took lots of your time.

AH2015,

To have a nesbit appliance, you need to have healthy, fully erupted teeth on both sides of the missing tooth as those teeth will anchor the removable appliance. Partially erupted wisdom teeth are not good anchor teeth. The appliance is not meant to be worn when eating or sleeping as it can be a choking hazard if it comes dislodged. It is worn for three purposes. One is to prevent the anchor teeth from moving into the open space, two to keep the opposing teeth from drifting and three for aesthetic reasons. Not all dentists are comfortable making nesbit appliances because they are concerned that the person will wear it during chewing and swallow it. So if you are a candidate for this appliance you may have some difficulty finding someone who will make them for you. I just wanted to let you know that.

Do you see the dentist regularly for examinations and cleanings or just when you have a problem? I ask that because you mentioned that you would ask your dentist to clean the one wisdom tooth.

Our oral health can be a positive or negative reflection of our overall health. The bacteria in our mouth, both good and bad, filters throughout the blood stream continuously. Quite often, people will mistake a pretty white smile or straight teeth as automatically being healthy. Both of those things are of course aesthetically pleasing. However, other than obvious tooth decay or broken teeth, dental problems are often beyond the aesthetics of which we cannot see without xrays. Other things that are significant factors in our dental health is genetics, diet and exposure to toxicities. With genetics, we are predisposed to certain DNA glitches. However, predisposition does not mean we automatically end up with those glitches. If we know what they are, we can take steps to prevent or at least lesson our chances of acquiring them. Regarding diet and toxicity, we are what we eat, what we breathe, what we think/feel, what we lather on our bodies and what we are environmentally exposed to. Our body is not designed to be in a constant state of conflict against all of those things. Being in that state of health and mind eventually breaks down every system of the body and allows the DNA glitches to kick in and take over.

The Indian culture, as you know, has a very long history of eating a certain way that is most conducive to reducing inflammation. The abundance of anti inflammatory spices constantly added to most foods is perhaps the major reason why many Indian people who stay on that diet live to be very old without major health problems. The adaption of the American diet is the worst thing anyone, even Americans, can do to their health!!

Even under the best and healthiest circumstances, non vital root canaled teeth are a source of inflammation and infection. If someone has a consistently healthy immune system, an optimum healthy diet and truly no dental or other health problems, their immune system may be able to deal with one or two root canaled teeth without further complications. But those ideal circumstances are extremely rare in all cultures.

Regarding the amalgam mercury dental fillings... these fillings are highly toxic to every living organism. A persons overall health, even when optimum, can be unfavorably affected by mercury. The more mercury there is in the body, the more chances there are to cause toxicity overload.

Bryanna

You are right about traditional Indian Cooking (I do have some really simple daily recipes which are full of curative spices in right quantities - are you interested? Of course there are lots of recipes available on internet but as you know India is a country of diversity - we not only 700+ languages but also that many cooking styles - I can share some traditional Karnataka healthy recipes with you, if you like, let me know where to post it/mail them - this really is the least I can do to repay for your kindness)

Now, coming back to my RC teeth again, today I had been to a Dentist who took X rays of all 3 RC teeth. 2 of the lower ones have mild infection and upper one has slightly bigger infection is what she said. ( I wanted to attach the x-rays here, but don't see any option to do so) She would be transferring the case to an oral surgeon (She is not one, I had confused her to be one). When I checked with her whether the surgeon will remove the periodontal ligament, debride the socket of all necrotic tissue and bone and I also said that I would want the surrounding bone to scraped clean...she was like "periodontal ligament and necrotic tissues will be removed automatically with the teeth (I know this is not automatic for a decayed and dead teeth) and scraping the adjacent bone is really not required, as the body will heal when the source of infection is removed - again here I said I would want that to be done, as I don't want take my chances with anaerobic bacteria (she was surprised to hear me use all technical terms and she "You know too much!"). She agreed it would be done, if that is my preference. Thanks to you Bryanna.

Tomorrow I'm meeting one more Dentist who I believe is a Oral Surgeon, as I'm not very impressed with the cleanliness of the one I met today (even if she is going to call another surgeon to take care of my teeth extraction)

I'm really sorry for taking up so much of your time and writing such long stories here. I just want you to know - You are my strength (I'm not joking, there is nobody else I can share this information with - apart from my family - who does not have any clue! ha ha !)

Hi Bryanna,

Few more questions :
1) There are many who heal without using antibiotics (as these are also possible cause of cavitations) I would like to inform the dentist that this approach is what I choose. I will take Homeopathy of course (Arn, Hypericum, Ledum, Symphytum will go a long way here along with tissue salts of course)
But I guess I can take the pain killers? let me know if you have any contradiction
2) Local Anastasia with vasoconstrictor - I don't think here in India they have any other alternative other than General Anastasia (which I want to avoid at all costs!!)
3) Stitches are OK right? I would prefer them.
4) Rinsing the mouth with salt water from the day of extraction is OK right ? (of course organic sea salt or rock salt without added chemicals)

I really really must make up for your time in some way Bryanna (maybe in both of the ways I have mentioned in my previous reply - I really feel bad to take without giving. That is just not who I'm)

Bryanna, you can ignore my previous questions in the post I'm happy to say I found a really knowledgeable and caring Dentist today - he is aware of procedures infact he offered the information without me asking him first. He knows about removal of periodontal ligament, debriding the socket of necrotic tissues and cleaning the surrounding bone...he calls it curette. He even gave me the treatment plan where he is charging seperatly for extraction and for curette. I'm really happy A surgeon will do this for me.
I wont take antibiotics, he is OK with it, conditional to taking only liquid food for 5 days and seeing him every 2 days. He is also giving all appropriate instructions regarding salt water rinse after 24 hours etc...mostly we will get all 3 RC teeth out tomorrow itself (going on 5 day liquid diet twice is not easy!) - he has told me I can decide during the surgery based on my comfort level.
This will be done with local anastesia with vasocontrictors ofcourse.
Thank you for all the help Bryanna.
Let me know whether you would like some recipes from me
I will get back in few days and update again Thank you
