Default Tooth extraction

I had the tooth extracted a few weeks ago. The dentist said there was moderate infection. He scraped and cleaned it and put in the post and surrounded it with bone graft powder. There were sutures he removed 2 weeks later. I had moderate pain and very little swelling. He said everything looked good at the follow up. I go back in a few weeks for another follow up.

ddd,

For those following along.... by "post" this person means dental implant.

Did he comment if there was a sinus communication?

I asked about sinus communication. I think he said he did see the membrane but was not clear if there was any problem. He said if there was the hole would be covered by the implant and bone graft material and would heal on its own. At least that is what I understood. I have not had any problems.

ddd,

Glad to hear that you have not had any obvious problems.

If there was a sinus communication that means that a portion of the sinus was open. Just to clarify, the implant and/or bone graft would not act as a plug to close the opening. So hopefully there was no sinus communication.

When you go back for your post operative check, the surgeon should take at least one xray of that area and it should include the sinus. This xray should be done before you do any restorative work (crown) on that implant.
