Hi Mark,
Based on the information that you have shared, your dental health has been severely compromised for many years and for several reasons. Multiple Myeloma often affects ones oral health. Bony fragments are a common occurrence post dental extractions and they usually come out on their own or are relatively easy for a dentist to remove with little to no problems post operatively. However, in people with MM the health of their skull and jaw bone is often compromised. Oral surgery as well as healing from oral surgery can have multiple complications. Dental treatment, in your case oral surgery, should include a pre and post collaboration between the medical specialist and the oral surgeon. I cannot tell you if the dentist did something in error or not. Bony fragments are common, but your oral health and healing are compromised. I found this informative pdf about MM and Dentistry.... thought you might find it interesting and perhaps helpful... http://cdn.intechweb.org/pdfs/26509.pdf I'm very sorry you are going through all of this. I wish I could be of help to you. Please let us know how you're doing. Bryanna Quote:
