I've been wearing a nite guard for decades. [Long before any neuro issues for sure] The last one I got tho, wasn't the totally acrylic/hard type I'd always had before tho. I got it almost 2 years ago.
The new type I've gotten is hard 'shell' with a soft-ish part with the teeth imprints. Within about 6-8 months the soft part got HARD. It was replaced by the manufacturer/fabricator at no cost, but now, the replacement is getting hard as well. Don't know what I'll have to deal with the second time around? I am begining to wonder if it is ME? or my chemistry or something.... I've followed directions as to the 'care and feeding' of this appliance diligently, but somehow I think I am missing something. Ironically, for over 2+ years after I had had the onset of my neuro issues, I did not need to wear this thing! But, as I guess, hope, etc., I stabilized and 'improved', the need to wear this has become more essential than ever. Soooo. any advice is welcome! It would be great to know that I am either not alone, or imagining things or that this is a defective product/process. Good idea tho. Truly this is a simple issue compared to most, but it is irksome and can become expensive. Thanks in advance! ![]() |

I have no right to answer you at all .... it's just that I've never even heard of a guard like yours.
![]() I wear mine all day and all night .... I remove it only when I need to chew something .... something like food. For me that guard is more important than my tri-focal glasses! It's some sort of, I think, hard, clear acrylic, that my dentist measures my upper teeth for and then has made. It takes me between hmmmmmm 6 months and 2 years to bite it to pieces and have to have a new one made. Does your dentist supply yours? If not, have you thought about talking to your dentist about making you one? I'm wishing you well .... I'm wishing you a good guard. I know how valuable they are. |
