Hi There,
I'm new to the list and was wondering if any of you have tried Celexa? I've been having some (possible?) side effects, but so many things are listed for all of them, it's hard to tell what's what. The doc started me on 10mg for the first week. It was increased to 20mg this past week. I hate to go off it, because I'm feeling better in some ways already. Also, I can't seem to find significant differences between Lexapro and Celexa. Have any of you gone off one and tried the other? The other med I take is lamictal. Anybody ever take that one? Any problems with it? I know everyone reacts differently to meds, but am curious about what you've experienced with these. Susan |

Hi SUZEQ and welcome.
I've never taken either, but there will be somebody along soon that has that can answer your questions.

SUZEQ,
Lexapro is an optical isomer of Celexa. In plain english it is thought to be the most active form of Celexa. I have taken both and experienced no side effects from either. They have both worked at one time and then not worked at another time in my difficult case. Lamictal is both a mood stabilizer and and antidepressant. It did not particularly help me, unfortunately. You have to be careful with Lamictal because of the possibilty of a serious allergic reaction. The symptoms here are RASH, fever etc. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience them. I don't mean to needlessly alarm you; only a few people have this happen. I hope that this helps some ![]() |
