Hi Southie,
It's great to see you back! I'm sorry I haven't sent you a message but since school started up again I have been on the go.
You sound just like me I have had absence, complex partial, simple partial, as well as clonic sz. I found that when I went through my change is when the sz. got worse. I just started taking keppra in August and it has really helped me a lot. Years ago I took klonipin and that didn't help me at all.
As I've mentioned to you before you might want to get a DNA blood test done this will show what AED's are the best for you with the least side effects. In regards to having surgery done get a 2nd opinion that's what I did and I'm greatful that I did because this Dr. knew what he was doing and wasn't there just for the money.
You take care and May God Bless You!

Sue

Post From the other side of the fence

I believe I've already posted that DNA/Genetic info
somewhere in NT; I have mitochondrial as well as
progressive neurological issues here, so we are
already aware of all of these things.

And you are correct, seizures can change for:
1) for better
2) for worse
3) remain unchanged
4) dissolve
5) return (like many say "outta nowhere")

Going through change of life doesn't always apply,
but can be a factor if hormones have an impact;
hence the need more more research and studies
for Woman's Issues - since many of "us" girls,
teens, and woman are so vast and varied, the
need is great for research and study in this area:
from hormones to you-name-it.

Stigma still unfortunately "reigns" in the Woman's
Issues and needs to be given the "full boot" out of
Neuroscience / Psychiatry - and be given a "clean
boot" (am I sounding a little 'geeky' here)?

It factual, no if's, and's or butts about it - we need
a good sized Ram to butt the old studies way out
into the "lost city of Atlantis" to remain there ....
permanently! And come up with new current studies,
cases, researches, thereon ...

That is just my own humble 4 cents (due to inflation
and unemployment and ...) - my *sic* humor.
