Hi Garney,
Most states require you to be seizure free for 3-6 months (some up to a year) before you get your driving priveleges reinstated. It sucks, but each time you have a seizure the clock resets itself all over again. Not fun. I'm glad for you that you have people nearby who are willing to help you out. What type of seizures do you have? I used to have cp's and sp's and am just starting to have sp's (aura's mainly) again with migraines with a couple of cp's since surgery 4 1/2 years ago. Hopefully nothing more than that. I hope with this med change you'll start getting better control and things will improve for you. Best of luck. Stef

Hi Garney,
I've been on 13 different AED's and not a single one of them has stopped my sz. Now they are doing DNA blood tests that can tell you which AED will help you the best so you might want to speak to your neuro. about having a DNA blood test done to find the right AED. I know in NY if a person has a sz. they have to start all over again and go 1 yr. without a sz. and have a Drs. written statement saying there have been no sz. in a yrs. time. Just like you I'm very lucky to have my husband take me to work and every place I need to go. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You! Sue |

Good morning!
Steph and Porkette thanks for info. My Neuro called me yesterday and said my Dilantin level too low. Will be starting on a different level and brand name today(along with the Keppra). Have been have many episodes of fixating on one thing, place, then trouble with word retrieval and mixing of words afterwards. Hope this new med combo works. I am so thankful that this site exists. It is great to talk with people who know what you are going through. Have a good day all ![]() Garney |

Garney-
How are you feeling today? I hope things are beginning to settle down for you and get easier. The med change road is not an easy one for sure, but eventually we all hope to find the "right cocktail" that works. I remember Dilantin, that was an experience in itself, I can't imagine combining it with anything else- eek! You're in my thoughts. I agree with you. I am so glad that this place exists, it's solace to me. ((hugs)) and prayers to you all stef

![]() I had 5 siezures yeterday afternoon. My daughter called 911. Given two injections of Valium at my house and one of Adavan on way to hosp because fourth seizure. Given another injection in Hosp. because of fifth seizure, then 500 mg Dilantin. They sent me home about four hrs. later. Saw my neuro today and have another med change. He added Lamictal and then Klonopin telling me I need to get enough sleep. Still taking Keppra and Dilantin also. He is calling Dartmoth-Hitchcock for appiontment there. Trying to keep positive.
