Default chest pain and seizures

hi

i have Temporal lobe epilepsy. my main seizure types are complex partials, and simple partial

meds- keppra and lamotrigine

However just started getting chest pain with my seizures and once its over it stops.

I also feel lightheaded.

Is it related to seizures?

Hi Sellebelle,

Welcome to the forum! Just like you I also have Temporal lobe epilepsy
You should call your neuro. and tell them about the chest pain and feeling light headed I know this is a side effect from the lamotrigine and the Dr. should be told immediately. I know when I took the drug I broke out with a rash and the keppra increased my seizures like crazy. Now I take vimpat along with Diamox and mysoline and the seizures have been reduced greatly.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Default thanks

Hi

Thanks for yur reply.

Ive been having both those meds for near 2 years. Never had this problem before.

the lamotrigine has never really worked.

The keppra has controlled the seizures but all of a sudden i got the weird feelings.

I am getting more auras since.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

You should talk to your neuro and tell him/her about your chest pains and they may reduce the drug level you are taking.

Also if the weather is changing in your area like it is here in central NY where I live you might be having what my Epileptologist calls "Seasonal
Seizures" and that means that certain times of the yr. a person has more seizures. I always have more seizures in the fall and winter than I do in the spring and summer.
I've had epilepsy for 39 yrs. I started having petit mal also known as absence sz. then 2 yrs. later I began having complex partial sz. According to my Epileptologist the cp sz. are the hardest to control. If you get a warning that you are going to have an aura sz. try tightening up your fists and all the muscles in your body by doing this it will often stop the aura sz. I was taught to do this back in the 1970's. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
