Default What's going on?

This is my first post on this site. I have a mild TBI from a car accident, and have been diagnosed with "spells" last July after a 1 hour and an 8 hour EEG were performed at my Neuro. M.D.'s office.

I began Neuro Rehab in December of last year as an outpatient 3 times a week. These "spells" were occurring 1 to 2 times a week during rehab with just a small tremor in my hands and a fixed stare for 5-10 minutes staff told me. Sometimes tears and a runny nose happen, but I am not upset. I was always aware of what they were saying and tried to respond verbally or physically, but unable to do so. They would resolve and I could continue.

Last week, these "spells" were occurring back-to-back at 5-20 minute durations each. The staff told me they recorded 7 or 8 episodes in less than an hour and a half. I was sent to the ER in an ambulance, where again the EEG was negative. Now I am scheduled to do an ambulatory EEG for 72 hours while in rehab to elicit the episode.

I do have similar smaller episodes at home, but usually like the ones in rehab with a quick resolution. Neuro Rehab tends to elicit these with longer duration more frequently. Have any of you experienced anything like this? They tend to happen with any type of activity, in group settings or 1-on-1 with therapist. I feel like I get slower and slower until I am no longer able to respond or communicate until it passes. I fight it the whole time, trying to say words or move a hand/ finger to acknowledge I can still hear them talking to me.

If any of you have any responses, I sure would appreciate them. Thank you in advance. M-i-m
