Hi guys, I'll be going to see a Therapist who specializes in cogontive therapy. I was wondering if it would be better and save me sometime to go to a neurotherapist who specializes a bit more in dealing with people who have Epilepsy. The Cognotive therapy is suppose to help me change the way I think and handle situations but, some of that is due to dealing with Epilepsy. What's your guys opinion about this one??? Oh and it was my birthday the 17th!!!! 27 years old!! God bless you guys and Take Care

Hi Tiger Lilly,
Hope you had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! From my past experience I've seen different shrinks especially when I was in my teens and never got much help or understanding until I saw a neuropsych I found that a neuropsych was much more helpful and understood more of why I had such a hot temper and how it was related to my e. and my AED's. This type of Dr. was the best help for me than any other shrink I had to see. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You! Sue |

Tiger lilly,
I guess I'd have to be there to see what the problems are. I remember when I was having more problems with seizures. It wasn't the fact that I needed to see a neurotherapist. I just needed to talk to someone about my problems all together. I ended up going to see my regular doctor once a week to tell him about my seizures that I was having. After doing this for a year and realizing that the problems were all in my head, I finally told him that I didn't need to see him anymore. I was already seeing a neurologist every 3 months as is was. I needed to realize that there was someone there to listen to me when I needed them. At least we have the internet to do that today. Maybe you just need to see a therapist who specializes in cogontive therapy for a reason. Start out with that and see how things go. If you don't see any changes in a couple of months, then think of seeing a neurotherapist. All a neurotherapist will do is test your memory skills. Becky |
