Default November Is...

National Epilepsy Awareness Month.

Lets share some ways to open eyes and erase the ignorance to epilepsy.

Our family all wear our purple awareness pins all year round. Good for starting conversation.

If we can tell one person a week about Epilepsy and share our story It may take awhile but we can help educate one by one.

What are some other way to help open eyes to Epilepsy?

Starting soon our organisation will be putting together a book of people stories about epilepsy hope to help get the word out even more.

Hi,
Since I work in public school as a teacher aide I teach students and staff about E each yr. Many students don't understand it and are afraid of a sz. so I teach them what causes sz., and what to do if they see a person have a sz.
The past 2 yrs. I've had a workshop for all the staff in the school to teach them about E. what to look for if a student has a sz, things that can trigger sz., how a student can be moody or tired from their AED's etc. The school principal was angry with me for doing this but the students and staff were very pleased asking many questions to learn more. Now I don't have to worry about the principal being angry because he lost his job for cutting people down with E. I stood up for everyone that has E. or other medical problems. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Thats great to hear you try to educate the school.
Can I ask what grade you teach?
Do you have epilepsy info in the school library.

Keep up the great work I know it takes alot to educate year after year.

Hugs

Hi,
I work with grades 6-8 and every now and then a science teacher from the high school asks me if I can come over and teach the students about E. The school library doesn't have that much info. on E. so I teach students about what it was like have 2 brain surgeries, what can cause sz., and I teach them about what AED's I've taken and their side effects on me. The one big thing I teach students is just because they may have E that can't stop them from leading a normal everyday life.
Wishing you well and May God Bless You!
