Default hormones and seizures

Sorry i havnt been on in so long. My life has been over run with drama...but i am posting tonite because i experienced a new kind of seizure for me yesterday. im going to post the symptoms and i want everyone to give me their feed back

I had the typical aura begin just like i was going to have a tc....i sat down on the couch....and had this terrible sense of fear i was scared like i have never been before, almost like i was afraid i was going to die...i started crying, i was in agony but ccant tell you what hurt. I was very nauseated, and my left hand shook, then my left arm, metallic taste in my mouth and a roarin in my ears. It subsided, then came right back within a few seconds. THis happened two or three times. My mother talked to me, and i remained conscious talking back and i remember all of it. then i started seeing some very strange flashing lights and colors in my moms eyes as i tried to focus. The last thing i remember is swallowing some medication and am told i went into a full tc szr.

Recovery was a few hours...although im still tired.....

Any thoughts?

Hormone-related szs are very common. There is actually a name for this. It's called Catamenial Epilepsy. They can occur from periods, or you can be like me. Mine come from very late periods or preg (without med). For this reason, I had a tubal ligation after my son was born, and good thing. He was dx'ed with autism at 2 1/2. (I also have a 16 yo daughter.)

This aura you describe is very similar to one I had a few years ago. It followed the normal pattern of my others but got stuck in the "panic mode." I must have panicked for at least five minutes. It felt like an utter eternity. Thank God, my husband was right there and was able to get me through it. It did stop before becoming a TC, but to this day, I'm not sure how.

Hi,
For years I've had more sz. each month when the hormones are changing my epi told me it was because the estrogen level was increasing causing more excitement while the progesterone level decreases and progesterone helps calm the nervous system down.
The type of sz. you are describing sounds like a aura (simple partial) sz. this happens to me when I have a cp sz. I start to see colors flashing back and forth in my eyes and then I blank out sometimes where other times I don't. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Default Hormones allways set me off

I have now gotten where pretty much the only time I have seizures is before ovulation and before menstration. I took high dose birth controll for it for a while, and had pretty good results. However, there is an increaseng risk of stroke from the pill as age increases, so I decided to quit taking the risk.
