Hi traciboop,
I've never had glaucoma, but each time I have an absence (petit mal) or complex partial sz. my pupils dialate which is normal when a person has a sz. You might want to speak to your neuro about trying the drug Diamox it's used for epilepsy and glaucoma I've been taking it for many yrs. and it works great. I've been told over the yrs. that certain AED's (sz. med) can cause problems with some peoples eyesight. I know that when I took tegretol my eyesight got really bad. I've had epilepsy for 36 yrs. now and I've found diamox a great help. If you do go on diamox I want to let you know that you can't take asprin. Only tylenol. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Hi traciboop,
I hope I was of some help. If I may ask have you been taking tegretol or tegretol xr? I've been on both and I found it was that tegretol xr that messed up my eyesight the worst. Some of the problem could be from the area of where your sz. are coming from especially if they are starting in the opticcal lobe that's the area for our eyesight that's in the back of the head. I see you posted on braintalkcommunities if nobody responds you might want to make that a seperate post I'm sure others will respond. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Hi traciboop,
I will let you know that diamox is a diuretic that helps get rid of extra fluids in the body. Just like you I've taken both tegretol and tegretol xr but never at the same time. In case your Dr. hasn't told you never eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while on tegretol or tegretol xr because the enzymes in the fruit can mess up the drug and cause many problems.
As far as the diamox goes you may notice that you don't want to eat that much and that's because the drug makes you feel full but other than that I've had no other side effects from the drug. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
