Another type of pain we FM'ers get is called allodynia, or tactile allodynia basically it is nerve pain....a cool breeze can blow over my skin or a tag in my shirt causes extreme pain...but when my fibro flares like it right now sitting is excruciating...whatever part of my body is touching the chair is in intense pain.

That sounds sort of familiar, Renee. When this happened to me, I couldn't sit or lie down because any part of my leg which touched something caused ubearable pain. And there are things that others have said which also struck a chord. Thank you all for your responses. So far it hasn't happened again, but I still fear that it might on any day.

Idealist~~ In June I started having intense L hip pain. The Rheumy even gave me a steroid shot and it didn't help. It was so tender, it hurt to even touch it.

It's subsided now, but just when I think it's totally gone, it will act up again. He gave me pain meds, but they seemed to give me bad side effects.

Isn't FM fun????????? Sounds like our hip pain is similar.

I have the same type of pain however I could never find a name for it. My DH will often ask me how I'm doing. I will tell him that my skin hurts. He will just brush his hand across my arm a comforting touch and I will pull away because it just hurts!!

I'm learning a lot from you guys, and I really thank you a lot! I've spent endless hours trolling the net and reading every scientific paper I can find on fibro and other conditions, but they never mentioned much about what you all are telling me. Please...if it isn't too much trouble, give me whatever life-experience you have about FMS. I can never know too much. Thanks again for all your kindness and help. Good luck and best wishes to all!
