I don't know about anyone else, I already have to limit my exposure to fluorescent lighting. I don't go to movies because of the sound (volume) and lights (flashing). I don't drive at night because of the exposure to the headlights of oncoming cars.
I never left my bedroom on the evening of July 4th. Georgia began allowing stronger fireworks for the public this year. It seems as if everyone of my neighbors decided to purchase and shoot off fireworks for what seemed like was all night long. The morning of July 5th I was in bed, curled up in a fetal position. The nerves in my brain were misfiring so horribly that it felt like my brain was in a seizure. I would feel the electrical impulses run down my spine and then different parts of my body would jerk involuntarily. I was unable to get out of bed until about 12:30pm. My PCP is so understanding and did not think I was insane, he suggested earplugs or earphones that will block outside noise but will connect to my phone or computer so I can relax to some comforting music. I was thinking New Year's and he reminded me that Labor Day is another big fireworks day. He explained it is not just the sound but the concussions from the fireworks. Does anyone else run into this problem? |

Hi, just wanted to let you know there have been a few posts this past week about the fireworks and their effects over on the
TBI/PCS Forum You could run a search there for fireworks and also there are some older threads about noise cancelling headphones that might be of help. Many of us are very sensitive to sounds and light so it's a topic that comes up a lot. take care. |

You're not insane, I am also very noise sensitive, but not all noises bother me. I have a neighbor that works on his car, then sits in there and rev, rev, REV! Makes me want to scream. Other things too, like too many people talking at once. I'd go with the headphones.

I'm also very noise sensitive since my facial pain started. I work in a school and had to get a noise meter to tell the kids when they're getting too loud because they seem loud to me all day every day.

hi bddouglas. i am also very sensitive to loud noises and bright lights. they cause me more pain. i have rsd as well as fibromylagia so i don't know which one is causing this to happen, but i do know that rsd causes this as well. i'm not as well educated on fibromyalgia though. since i got rsd first i have done more research on it and have lived with its affects on me longer, but i know that fibro is also very painful just in different ways. hope you feel better soon. soft hugs.
