Does anybody have a recipe for easy tomato sauce/ketchup? By easy I mean real easy.... and no fancy ingredients please.
I've raided next door's vegeatble garden (with permission) and now have heaps of tomatoes. My neighbour had just pulled out some tomato plants which still had green fruit still on the vines. My green tomato relish is on the stove cooking as I type . I also have enough ripe cherry tomatoes to make something with as well. I was going to make a chutney/relish wih those too, but we'll have enough jars of green to last us 2 years with what I cooked last week, and what's cooking now. I've looked at "all recipes" and "recipes dot com", but couldn't find anything suitable. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Ummm... vine ripened tomatoes. I'd eat all of them.

Sadly I didn't get even one recipe suggestion for tomato sauce, or ketchup, so I ended up making this last lot of tomatoes into jam.
I do think that my husband thinks I'm fibbing. He still can't believe that he's eating tomato jam and not strawberry jam. They taste so much alike! I now have enough frozen tomatoes, and jars of relish/chutney to last us until our next season's crop will be ready. I daresay I'll have to look around for some different ways to use what's left because there are still several pounds of fruit left on the vines. I'll probably end up making more jam, but if anyone has other good ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.

You can make green tomato pie. Make it like you would an apple pie. It is really good You can also make fried green tomatoes. They are good if you like them.

The first recipe in this link is for ketchup.....
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread86556.html I've not tried it but it seems simple enough. I'm sure you could use your fresh or canned tomatoes in place of the canned paste. There is also a recipe for BBQ sauce. Not sure if you like that type of condiment or not.

Thank you for those recipes. I'll probably have a go at that BBQ sauce recipe, but the sauce calls for one 8-ounce can tomato sauce. What is that please? Would it be canned tomato juice, or pureed tomatoes?
