Default Going outside and...

Hello to all.

I have a question for those who are stuck at home (without a job) due to a medical problem (disability, perhaps). Any time I go outside I seem to get sick the next day. It comes with aches and pains in my muscles, extreme fatigue, sometimes I get a cold with congestion that ends up in my chest and sinuses. It just all around makes me feel bad.

I try to at least go out 3x weekly, but I end up in bed most of the time. I have been out of work for 4 years due to CFS/ME, FMS, Depression, "Probable MS" (still doing test for this) and back pain (severe Lordosis). I do my stretches every day for the Fibro and my depression seems to be somewhat under control, but I still get sick when I go somewhere.

Does anyone else have this problem? Could I have compromised my immune system by not working and therefore become susceptable (sp?) to viruses in the air? At one point in the last four years, I hardly went anywhere except to the doctors due to extreme fatigue and muscle aches. I was mostly in bed for about 3 months. Could this have caused my problem?

Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Are you on any medications that suggest that you avoid sunlight? Also, are you on any medications containing steroids?

I know of several meds that you can take that can cause severe sunburn, flu-like symptoms and my mom said steroids suppress the immune system.

Sometimes I feel that way, but normally when it's really hot or really cold and I'm used to breathing the 'recycled air' from the heating or AC unit and going outside into that air always makes me feel sick.

Default Medications...

I checked to see if any of the meds said to avoid sunlight and they didn't. I am also not on any meds that contain steroids. I have recently changed certain meds so that I can be on less medication than before. However, this flu-like illness when I go out has happened on the old meds and the new ones.

The meds I take are Cymbalta, Lyrica, Lamictal, and Verapamil. Now I also take supplements like a Multivitamin, Vit B-6, Vit B-12, D, E, Migra-Ease (for Migraines), and a Complex B. The Migra-Ease contains B-2 and butterburr root.

I don't get the "sunburn" feeling, but I do know that I am very sensitive to temperature changes. Especially going into the heat, whether it be outside or taking a warm/hot shower. I have not been able to use hot water in the shower for a very long time. Luke warm waters sometimes even tends to bother me. I just get so exhausted. Could this have something to do with it? The heat, I mean.

Please any help would be appreciated.

M

BTW - I have taken the supplements for over 3 years now, so I don't think they have anything to do with it.

You might want to try some Vitamin C supplements and/or eating and drinking more foods/drinks that contain vitamin c such apple juice and orange juice. Vitamin C is known to have immune system boosting properties....
