I either hide it in a tablespoon of applesauce, or yogurt.

Good question! One thing for me is not to think about it, but drink water and swallow normally. HOWEVER, I do use a non-spill squeeze cap (from the baby department) on the top of my half pint water bottle by the bed, for taking night med without waking fully. I found that squeezing the bottle forces the pill down with the water without any effort!
Hope you find something that works for you. TC. JD

Capsules and pills that floatdidn't get a mention. For those you tip your head forward so they float up to the back of your mouth.

Just take a bolus of any food into your mouth and, after chewing it thoroughly, put the pills in your mouth and just swallow normally. Your throat doesn't know what's coming, just that you're swallowing normally as always. I can take all seven of my morning pills at one time; however, I leave the huge fish oil gel out and swallow that one with the next bite.

I hate swallowing pills, especially large solid vitamins without the plastic coating. After seeing this thread I was inspired to try something out. I took a tsp of olive oil, and coated the pill in it, and then swallowed the olive oil, then drank the pill down with some water, it seems to have went down nice and smooth. I will definatly try out the jello method next time to compare

I have Sjogren's Syndrome which translates into dry mouth, dry tongue, and dry throat. I ALWAYS take a drink of water, juice or something that I have plenty of....FIRST......, then take the pills with water. I also break the 12 pills/vitamins up into more than one mouth full. Am I full of water when I get thru? Yes, but the pills all go down and without sticking.

Their is such a simple solution to this problem, just go to your local pharmacy and buy an inexpensive pill spitter! Its so easy to make your pills to the size that you can swallow them.

Good solution for many things. Just make sure you don't split a pill that is not supposed to be split.
