Default Carcinoid tumors, anyone have or know of personal stories?

Dr suggested I get tested for that since eating breads causes upper gastric pain. I'd like to know if anyone has had this and what are the symptoms?

Have already tested negative to all allergies and Celiacs.

See previous thread "Suggest ideas/tests for acute bizare reaction to wheat breads/pasta"

Carcinoid has many other symptoms with it.

Typically the GI problems are fast transit and diarrhea.
This is due to elevated serotonin, which is the main neurotransmitter in the GI tract.

There are typically many other signs of this rare condition:

I don't recall others posting about this. But it would be a good idea to get tested.

Your elevated lipase suggests a pancreatic issue, or at least
a bile duct malfunction. The pancreas shares the bile duct with the gall bladder. Having gall bladder testing for sludge or stones may be a good idea too.

Are there tests for it? I think it's called Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, but the only way to test it is using a pressure checking endoscopy and that requires a specially trained GI, not to mention I can't find a doctor to do that.

Carcinoid has a blood test now. You can request it before the more invasive testing.

The sphincter of Oddi problem is called Habba's syndrome.
http://habbasyndrome.com/_wsn/page3.html

It has explosive uncontrollable diarrhea as a presenting symptom.

If you suspect gall bladder sludge etc, you can try Taurine 1000mg a day. This will complex out the cholesterol in the bile, and help with flow issues.

But bread is not high in fat, normally, and not a trigger for gall bladder issues as a rule.

As I said, before, it may take a while to find your answers.

I am being tested for the Carcinoid (Serotonin byproduct 24hr urine), waiting on that.

Are there less-invasive methods for Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction? I know I have been having regular bowel movements throughout this whole ordeal (no constipation and no diarrhoea).

Carcinoid increases GI motility--typically diarrhea is common... so if you don't have that, it would be a stretch that it is your problem. It also causes wheezing and flushing of the skin.

IMO if you have NO symptoms without bread, I'd just not have any for a good long while. If that is a trigger, it seems to be a food intolerance rather than a "disease".
