My potassium levels dropped from 4.2 to 3.5 in the past 10 months. Could low potassium levels of 3.5 cause some nerve tingling and zapping issues throughout ones body?

Well, 3,500 mg was the RDA in US for quite a while. Then the dietitians raised it to 4,500 milligrams a day. Some anthropologists have suggested that our hunter/gather ancestors who were far more active than we are now, and perhaps they consumed 7,500 a day!
If you are tiny and don't weigh much it might not be so critical. The more active a person, and larger, the need would be higher. This is a really good article: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/low_p...article_em.htm Mostly low potassium would make you tired and weak, and perhaps give some muscle cramping at night. People who have loose stools alot or diarrhea, will lose potassium from the bowel. I think the "zaps" are more likely magnesium based. Fixing magnesium really can help that.

I read that when the myelin is lost or damaged that potassium leaks out. Can this show as low potassium levels on a blood test?
