Hi Mcsegall,
This must be terribly stressful and upsetting for you. It is hard enough for oneself to deal with the problems that bring us here, but for your Son to be afflicted is heartwrenching. It sounds especially frustrating that he wants to be such an active chap, and that has to be curbed at an age where he is just too young to fully understand. I have an arachnoid cyst as a few of my friends here do. Mine was spotted on MRI in '07, larger on MRI in '14, and I have many symptoms that can be attributed to the cyst, but - thankfully - no seizures. Unfortunately, like just about everyone else no matter their presentations, Neurologists are loath to blame anything on the cyst. This seems to be the case both sides of the Atlantic. I do not know why this is, I'm not a medical expert, but when you have a large mass pressing on your brain - and you are getting textbook symptoms - the two may well be linked. Don't get me wrong. The most important - the ONLY important - issue is the health of your boy. If medical experts can attribute his symptoms to something else then listen to them - but ALWAYS voice your concerns about the cyst. Whatever is found, I hope they can restore your Son's health as rapidly as possible. As for yourself, you will be under a lot of stress. If you find you need a shoulder, or want to rage at the World without upsetting your home life, we are here for you. Dave. |
