Default Breast mass...now what?

Dear Friends,
I know this is not a neurological issue but thought some of you who have any experience can throw your 2 cents in, as I have grown to know and trust many
of you.

Found a breast lump myself last week(a manual exam by my doc 3 wks ago found nothing.) Just had a mammo and ultrasound and it showed 2 masses, one on top of the other. They are telling me to go for a biopsy. I really don't want to panic or rush into anything and my gut instinct is, if they biopsy the mass and it is cancer, isn't that opening up the mass to let cancerous cells "escape"?

Just looking for advice on biopsies. As I sit here and research I am a bit overwhelmed at the amount of info but did see a site that said 80-85% of biopsies masses are benign. I will hold onto that piece of data!

Thanks for any advice.
D.
