My husband aged 63 fell some 6 months ago onto his left side, at the time just aches and pains as expected, but as time went on whether there is any connection or not he developed a left arm movement problem, which the wrist/hand was locking when doing a double movement. The GP first came up with the idea of trigger finger then tennis elbow.
Now 6 months down the line the wrist/hand is hardly moveable, he had a NCS/EMG which the conclusion reads
'Nerve conduction studies and EMG are normal with no evidence of any peripheral nerve lesion to account to syptoms, may possibly be Dystopia'

A MRI Scan was done with the impression given ' There is evidence of moderate osteoarthritis with degenerative disc disease. Posterior osteophyte disc complexes at multiple levels are seen.

When we saw his consultant he never looked at his arm, wrist or hand, he asked my husband to walk a few meters and commented 'he doesn't swing his arm, which he couldn't do due to the pain as much as anything he hardly asked any questions and handed him a prescription which he was to take tablets at 8am 12pm and 4pm and he would see him in 4 weeks, that was the consulation.

After 5 days of the medication his GP told him to stop due to side effects , the arm is very rigid now and when using his the muscle in his other arm he can at times feel the bad on jerk.

In a letter to the GP the consultant diagnosis was Left Upper limb focal dystonia and possible cortical basal degeneration
