Hello all
Im new to this forum so excuse me if i rattle on. Basically ive just being diagnosed with Functional Neurological Problems due to stress. Im coming to terms with it but finding it hard. Ive had depression for about 20yrs, i was 19 when i had my first breakdown. through the yrs i have taken Anti-D's but not for long periods as i dont really like the affects. Im feeling a bit lost as i never realized that depression/stress/anxiety can cause physical/neurological problems. I have tingling hands and feet and ive always been prone to headaches/migraines. My moods changes quite alot but i have learned to handle that over the yrs. I feel a bit in limbo now as Neuro has signed me off saying there is nothing he can do for me. i dont understand whats happening to me, if the symptoms i have are perminant or what. im wondering if i go to my GP and ask for prozac or something simlar, and i take them, will all my symptoms go away? will i be able to walk properly again,go to the bathroom without difficulty, feel my hands and feet properly? or is the damage done? any advice would be gratefully recieved thank you Kizzi |

Welcome to NeuroTalk, Kizzy.
Whenever I see a new person with a long history of problems, like yours, I often wonder if B12 or Vit D may be abnormal. You can request testing for these and if your results for the B12 are below 400, getting a supplement may help. Vit D also. UK test results may be different from US lab ranges, so please post your results here and I'll compute them to US ones. Correcting these if low may help with fatigue, depression and the tingling you have.

Hi ~ I'm clinically depressed. I've been depressed since I was a child but of course I didn't know it then. Looking back now, I can see where I was.
I take anti-depressants - there have been times I've had to change what I was taking because it quit working for me. But that's not unusual. Right now I'm taking Cymbalta twice a day and i have NO side effects. Why NOT get on an antidepressant?? I'm SURE there are some that you won't have side effects from. And the help it gives you is worth it !! If it doesn't take care of some of your symptoms, i.e. tingling, well you're not any worse off than you are now - and at least you won't be so depressed. Please ask your doc about getting on one. Life doesn't have to be so miserable. You'd be doing yourself a big favor. God bless you and take care. Big hugs, Lee
