Default the pursuit of a good mental health

Sometimes, when the disease is worst and it's not possible to read, to watch TV, to stay connected, to move, to talk, to do any kind of action, to go the therapy, my mind feels exausted because it is not able to distract myself, to change the thoughts, to give me some kind of peace.
Does anyone know some kind of meditation that could give some rest to my mind and helps me in the pursuit of a good mental health?

My heart & prayers go out to you -- in your quest for Peace & Healing. There are so many ways, forms of meditation -- w/ guidance from an "instructor", tapes, books, etc.-- but even simple focused breathing can be challenge when the Mind is so full & busy... someone posed this @

www.beliefnet.com

website --in Meditation section.(access via their Search box w/ key word "Meditation") Perhaps you'll find suggestions there helpful; lots of articles & "examples" or numerous Links to other sites...that may be beneficial...
Good LUCK....
Blessings...

There are numerous ways of doing meditation or relaxation techniques. Some are complex and some are not.

Here is a very simple relaxation technique that is good to start with and it's one that can be done almost anywhere.

Thank you, Lara
I'm using the relaxation technique and it is working for me.
I started to read online the book from Dr Clayton Tucker-Ladd, Psychological Self-Help, avaiable in http://www.psychologicalselfhelp.org/ and I have the impression that it could help me too...

Hi redtaiil, it woud be great for us to share our experiences with the technique and with the online book, don't you think?
I'm using the relax techique using respiration when I go to sleep and when I'm doing physical therepy or exercises, but I'm still in a search of the best moment for me. The book can be found at the site http://forums.psychcentral.com/There is a forum named "Sharing Self-Help Ideas
(A place to learn, try-out, and share new self-help ideas, based upon the book, Psychological Self-Help by Dr. Clay Tucker-Ladd.)
A hug

What a terrific thread!
I too go to www.beliefnet.com now and then.
Some things I do include:
1) Writing out positive affirmations. I write a few pages and then take the time to read them over a few times.
2) I have a few books that I really love. I might read a chapter or two for support
3) I tape a positive type religious show that is on Sunday mornings. I always have a few that I can replay when in need.
4) My favorite: I have a book on positive quotations. I will turn to a few different sections. They might include: love, preserverance, support, faith, strength...etc. I will read the wonderful, enlightening quotes handed down through time. There is always much wisdom in them. They always amaze me and give me strength.
5) Some very general things I do: Go to bed early, make sure there are flowers in the home, listen to uplifting music...all things that keep my mind and spirit in a positive place.
Wishing you well.

Hi Vowel Lady
Yes, it's very important to do things that keep mind and spirit in a positive place (inside and ouside).
One thing that I use to do every day is to observe my cats. It seams to me that they enjoy life very much; I like to see their faces (they do different faces all the time!) and the way they take care of themselves, of their space (of me too).
Wishing you well too!

I hear yoga is excellent for this...or Pilates which I started for my low back pain. Hope you find something that works!
