Confused I am "MotherISH" but not "Motherly".

To expalin this better is to say I feel MORE Motherly towards animals than I do towards human babies.

Anyone Else this way??

PLEASE someone else say they are this way too. I have Never brought this up anywhere before but I think it's because I never was around babies growing up, I was the baby in the family and had animals all the time. I relate Better to animals.

Have you been tested for PPD? It's not uncommon to feel this way. I think I may have felt like that at one time or another after my first baby...he was colicky.

I didn't grow up around babies either. For me, I just avoided pregnancy...but once I got her (only one) she became the center of my attention. I do understand though....babies are scary and they take your mind off what we think is important; Ourselves. It's very hard to give up our freedom and independence. An animal can fill the void, but still be left alone or ignored when other things seem more exciting or important to us. Do you have kids? If not, I'm sure one day you'll learn to love them and make them the center of your universe, we just need to do it when the time is right. Now may not be the time for you....

Good luck

Crazy

Yea, I am 59. I think that time has long gone. But no, I have always been this way. Yes, I had one child, a girl, but because of things beyond my control it didn't turn out very well. Long, sad story I really don't want to get into. I thought I was doing everything right for her but according to her I was horrible. I don't know why she hates me now. I have heard that if your children hate you when they grow up, you did a good job, whatever that means. I know I felt like I hated my mother when I grew up too and the way my mother talked about her mother, I think she hated her too. Seems mothers and daughters in our family just didn't click too well.
