Question Gluten-free, corn-free, in NORWAY??

Hi all!

I have been in recent email contact with a teenage patient in western Norway, who has Celiac Disease, gastric reflux, Asperger's Syndrome, ?Tourette's Syndrome, etc.

She is also sensitive to casein & soy proteins. Her reflux is causing VCD/vocal cord dysfunction (an asthma mimic).

I've recommended that she also try avoiding corn products. She's having a hard time finding corn-free, gluten-free products in Norway. And, in Norway, they say it's OK to eat (supposedly gluten-free) wheat starch that has some gluten still in there!! I've recommended that she avoid this weird wheat starch.

Is anyone on this forum in Norway, and if yes, do you know where this gal can buy some gluten-free, corn-free, casein-free, soy-free pruducts, such as Tinkyada pastas, and brown rice?

Does anyone know of a gluten-sensitivity/Celiac Disease group, in western Norway? Her town is Stavanger.

Carol

Hi Carol,

I don't know of a group in western Norway. I have seen a Norwegian online celiac support group, though... and it was fun to try and read Norwegian. Does she know about that? I'll see if I can track that down.

Here is the AOECS (European Celiac societies) member info for Norway

I found the discussion forum in Norway~ looks like you'd get there from the ncf link above, too.

Yes, but it is right now for new postings because of constant spam from English-speaking spamming kids or whoever posts silly links.

This forum is probably not so good for that person , the other two a the other two forums are.
This is because the opinion on the ncf forum is that most do tolerate wheat starch and often milk too. They do not usually post about additional intolerances like to corn or gums or other gf ingredients. For that the two other forums are much more specific. At the ncf forum they are not aware of neurological or psychiatric symptoms of glutening, whereas the two other forums are about that. They do not even have links to the two other forums (I must post something about that there when it opens again...)
