I'm so worried. I've had this mild to moderate headache for the past 2 weeks. It feels like tension but won't go away completely. I did have a sinus infection and still feel pressure around my nose and my ears feel sort of full. also, the base of my headaches. My shoulders are also very tight and I have knots around my shoulders and neck area. Anway, for piece of mind, I called a neuro doc and got an MRI this am. I've had MRI's before in the last year and they were normal. I also had an MRA last Jan and it was normal as well.. oh and all of my CT's were normal. I'm just wondering could it be possible that even after all these tests they are missing something dangerous like an anyerisum? Anway, I guess I'll have to wait to get MRI report back.

Welcome to NeuroTalk!
Headaches can be such a pain, I know, because I had them for decades, on and off. I sometimes had sinus headaches and it sounds like that might be what your problem is. I had to start taking allergy medicine in the spring and fall to help control those types of headaches. I also had migraines for years and those were hormone related sometimes and also I'd get them from high blood pressure (which can be a serious condition). Have you had a full physical aside from the MRI? I had allergy testing that showed my seasonal and environmental allergies. I also take blood pressure meds to keep that under control. Keep us posted on your MRI results and try not to worry!

Hi there. Sorry to hear that you have suffered but, I'm glad to hear you know what the problem is and how to control it. Yes. I've had a full physical. You would not believe the testing I've had. Blood work for every disease known to man. Lung testing, Complete cardio work ups, Gastro, well let's just say I've been checked from head to toe. Although, I have never been tested for allergies. I have noticed that I sneeze in the mornings during the cold months and have lot's of post nasal drip. I wonder if that means I might have indoor allergies? If so, I wonder if that can cause daily headaches? This headache I've had is odd. It's starts at like noon and then goes away and comes back. Sort of on and off. Anway, I can speculate all I want.. but I'll drive myself crazy. Thanks for the well wishes. |

It sounds to me like a simple case of very tight muscles, as you suggest. Tight and knotted back muscles can't relax and lengthen as they should, so they get sore, and pull down on the neck muscles. They then hurt too. These then pull on the scalp muscles, making the head sore as well. So you can have a variety of very strong pain in your back, shoulders, arms, neck and head, even the eyes, just from muscle problems. I know, I have it bad. The remedy for me is regular remedial massages. Pain went immediately. Still comes back if I overdo it, but much, much less and more easily controlled. My new pain doctor diagnosed this problem, and he was 100% correct. I also do a stretch and exercise routine for 30m most days.

I understand how worrisome this is. I used to worry about an aneurysm too, but my sister died from one at the age of 37. It was about thirty years ago when the surgery was much more invasive, and she didn't survive it.
Aneurysm headaches are very severe from what I recall, and tend to get worse if you lie down. I remember that my sister's was so bad she had to go to the ER for pain meds. They gave her some and sent her home but it didn't help, so she went back the next day with even worse pain and they finally figured out what the problem was and she was transferred to a neurology hospital out of town.

Just got the MRI results and it came back perfect very normal, no questionable findings. So, I guess I can relax a bit now and figure out how to manage my headaches and clear up this nasal drip.

A few months ago I was getting into my vehicle and hit my head on the framework of the door. I had neck pain before this occurred because of herniated disks in my neck. After one to two months I went to see a neurosurgeon (chief at that hospital) to get evaluated about my neck pain after this incident. During my visit I mentioned that the side of my head that I hit was still bothering me. He didn’t seem very concerned about the head pain in that area because I had no vision problems or any symptoms of somebody with a head injury (just aching in that area, no normal headache). I was referred to pain management for my neck pain which was very successful. After about three months from which this first occurred I mentioned to my family doctor about still having pain in that area at times, he sent me for a CT scan which came back negative. I have no headaches, vision problems or anything like that, just an ache in that area at times, months later. What could be causing this?

I'm really worried I've been with a headache for two weeks, and it doesn't go away at all I tried all kinds of headache pills and they don't seem to help! I went to the hospital 4 days ago and the Doctor said that I didn't have nothing bad in my head, that it might be migraine, so they gave me some pills to make the pain go away, but they dom't help me at all amd I just feel really dizzy!! Can someone PLEASE tell me what its that I have?? :'/
