Some find CoQ10 which helps mitochondrial function can help. It depends on the cause. Get hormones checked. Diet changes can help some people as they may have food sensitivities. Allergies can be problematic. We were told that when taking a medicine such as Zomig and Axert, they must be taken right at the very earliest of signs - in the earliest of prodrome stage, in order to most be effective. The problem with that is we don't always know when that is! Apparently some service dogs can detect migraine prodromes (here is a book that has that in it) just like a seizure alert dog can detect seizures before they happen. |

I have suffered from cronic migraines for years and I've tried numerous medications and treatments but nothing has helped. About a year in a half ago I got some relief because they just stopped happening all the time, but when I would get one it was really bad! Then a year ago I got pregnant and my cronic migraines came back daily but not as excruciating as they had been in the past. My son is seven months old now and since his birth my daily migraines were constant and rough then they eased a bit for a few months til about two months ago. My cronic migraines are back with a vengeance! It's gotten to where I'm actually constantly nauseated and my ears even hurt. On top of that my neck & back are hurting & I'm constantly having back spasms. The last two weeks I've been very sick from it & I've even experienced some seizure symptoms, it's starting to worry me because it feels like it just gets worse no matter what I take, how much rest or even excerise I do. I don't have insurance anymore so going to a doctor is so expensive... Please any advice. I just want to enjoy my time with my son & husband.

You really need to see a neurologist that deals specifically with migraines. Explain your financial situation. Most will set up a payment schedule that will be affordable. Always ask doctors for samples when you are prescribed meds. Most will gladly hand them out. Check with your local social service department for prescription programs. For free meds check out http://www.needymeds.org/ Get financial support from your baby daddy. ![]() Good luck & hang in there! ![]() |

Hi Princess76,
So sorry to hear about your migraines. I have been dealing with them myself since I was a kid, I inherited them from my parents. The only thing that has helped me is a daily dose of Topamax. I take the generic form and I take my entire dose at night to help me sleep (dr's orders). There is an adjustment period once you start taking it, tingling in your legs and hands and possible nausea. Eating potassium everyday (a kiwi) will eliminate the tingling until you get past that adjustment period. I still get migraines, but no where near as much. When I do I take Amerge for them as it is the ONLY drug that helps them. I wish you luck! Nanc |
