Hi everyone!
Ive had migraines behind my eyes since I was about 12 (maybe even younger), I'm now 20 and they've gotten so much worse and more localised. About 2/3 times a week at the worst times. Not related to periods. I had an MRI today and as a speech pathology student i've studied a fair bit of neuroanatomy and these are sections from a horizontal slice just behind the eye (where the pain is). Do these black marks look concerning? To my knowledge theres no foramen there to the left. Please give me some advice ![]() |

Hi ellie12
Welcome to NeuroTalk ![]() I am not competent to interpret your MRI images but this recent review argues that oxidative stress may be a common denominator underlying migraine triggers; http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/1...ead.12725/epdf Maybe this is something that you could discuss with your health care team. All the best.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's a small sample of just behind the eyes, horizontally. Those vessels at the front lead to the eyes. I wish I had a bigger picture so you could see where it is a bit better but my laptop doesn't have a CD drive... The black dots/weird black things are where the pain is behind my eyes. It comes and goes depending on things like skipping meals, heat and stress. Do you think it's a problem? I'm just worried because it's not symmetrical. It's also a T2 sample if that helps. |

Ellie, I am not an expert on interpreting MRI data but (day job stuff) have a fair understanding of the NMR theory involved. T2 (spin-spin) scans can often give helpful information. T1 (spin-lattice) scans can often provide complementary information. Discussing the option of a T1 scan with your care team is worth considering. All the best.
