Default Anyone Have This Type Motion Sickness?

I am posting this question here per suggestion from the TN forum. Although headache is not part of my symptoms, I have another on going symptom that I can not seem to find any information on and my doctors all have dismissed it as being unimportant. I have a lot of motion sickness. I have had this problem all my life as far as riding in back seat, playground merry go rounds, etc. However, for the last 10 years or so, it takes very little to send me into an all day nauseaous state. The worst thing about it, is that I can no longer do any type of exercise that involves raising my upper body up and down the slightest little bit - i.e., ab crunches, or any form of pilates that I have tried.

Almost every thing I have tried makes me sick - there may be some parts of a workout that doesn't bother me, but then to get a total body workout is out of the question. Has anyone else heard of this type of motion sickness?

I do not feel dizzy, no head spinning as in vertigo, just a funky nausea that lasts the rest of the day. I do not vomit, but just feel terrible. I have always thought this was connected to my ear pain - although it does not happen at the same time. ENT has performed every test imagineable and nothing can be found wrong with my ears, sinus, etc. Thus, the TN dx.

If anyone knows of another forum that I could visit for this information, please let me know. I don't have MS or vertigo, so I did not want to post in those threads.

Thanks for your help.
Rhonda

Default motion sickness with weird dizziness

I am really sensitive to motion sickness too. I have a weird kind of dizziness that usually accompanies it though. It is not true vertigo as there is no spinning and I don't feel like I am going to fall down. It's more like all of a sudden I feel like I am drunk to the point that I might fall down. I get sick on the bus more times than not, sometimes in the front seat of the car, and on the train but sometimes all I have to do is bend over to pick something up.

I do have sinus problems and am going to have them cleaned out in a few weeks. My ENT does not think it's going to solve my problem completely but it will at least reduce some of the headaches and MAY fix the dizziness. I'll let you know after August 12th if it got any better. BTW, my ENT couldn't see anything in my sinuses with the endoscope even after the 2 MRIs and 1 CT Scan that all showed my right sinuses are completely blocked with something. Have they done any imaging on you or just looking up there with the little doodad?

Default Thanks For The Response

Fast elevators that go up a lot of floors get me too. Sometimes too in the front seat of the car if we are stopping and starting a lot - like going to yard sales, looking at houses, etc. If sun is in my eyes it is double worse. To try to read while riding is a sure way to spoil my trip. Thank goodness for GPS so I don't have to read the map!! And yes, sometimes just bending over does it.

Yes, my ENT actually did two MRI's and found nothing. Afterward, I made myself an appt. with the Neurology dept. here at Vanderbilt for a third opinion. They reveiwed my MRI and said they saw nothing either. They too confirmed the trigeminal neuralgia diagnosis.

Good luck with your scheduled procedure. About 8 years ago, I had several laser procedures done on my sinuses, by a different ENT that some medical professionals consider somewhat of a quack - although, my insurance covered all of my procedures. At the time I was having headaches 5 out of 7 days a week all day. After he completed the "turbinectomy" the headaches have not returned. I do take Allegra D and Astelin spray every day as well. He continued to find more and more that he thought I should have done, but the procedures were unpleasant, so I stopped after about the 5th one.

Take care, and let me know how it goes.

Rhonda
