In an effort to try and figure out why I am having so much vertigo like symptoms a family member has suggested that I may be having migraines.

Just a little backround info. About 2 months ago I started getting physically sick while driving and having intermitant decrease of vision. Any hills, turns or sun would make me vomit, what a fun ride. I do get a burning, tingling sensation in my ears and head before and occasionally when I get dizzy. I saw the family doctor who gave me Scopolamine patches and a referral to the ENT and eye doctor. The ENT doctor examined me and had a hearing test done which showed asymetric hearing loss. They sent me for an MRI to rule out an acoustic neuroma. This was all fine. The eye examine was fine, no cause for my occasionally blurry vision. I am waiting for an appointment for a balance exam from the ENT.

I do wear a duragesic patch for chronic back pain, but symptoms have not changed since this was started. I have had my sugar, blood pressure checked many different times and all is well too.

My mother said she has a friend that has migraines without the distinct head pain, anyone else have something like this? I would love to get to the bottom of this. My kids dont understand why sometimes we need to change plans at the last minute because this can come on so fast. When we do go out I am always worried it will hit at any momment, keeping the car freezing helps a bit, but not always.

Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. I would love to be able to ask the doctor about other reasons for feeling like this.

Hello! I have similar symptoms, but these are actually associated with my epilepsy (auras). I'm not sure where you're from, but in Southern California we have a stellar optometrist who specializes in treating vision disturbances caused from neurological problems, head trauma, etc.

She did several days worth of testing on me to help me with my vision and balance, it cannot be repaired since they vary depending on my seizure frequency and location of the seizure.

Most neurologists will try and ship people off to an ophthalmologist, however, I'd look for an optometrist with experience or a primary focus on neurological conditions. If you're around this general area, let me know and I'll give you her information. People have came from across the united states to see her, and I personally see why.

Not only did she not charge me for the extra 3 days of testing, she was kind. She's friendly, like one of those awesome cuddly aunts you have. She has an amazing staff, too. She will do everything to help, and she even found me a new neurologist since mine was, well, a jerk (she agreed).

She believes in people and helping people, she doesn't take Aetna and I paid cash to see her. Was worth every penny (even though she gave me a discount!).

Have you had an EEG?

I'd suggest the balance and FMS testing, but looks like you're doing that. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunetly I am in PA! Having an extremely bad day, I think due to stress, but never the less, my head is ready to explode. Its for good reason though, my new car was stolen and it hit another car an hit a dip in the road an crushed 1/2 of the motor.

I need to call again for the balance testing, it should be next week, but right now I cant even think.

My husband had two brief episodes of blurred vision last Jan. which an opthalmologist said was a migraine and a neurologist said was a transient ischaemic attack (mini stroke). Since it resulted in him losing his pilot's license temporarily, we did a huge amount of research. From that, I know that what you should be researching is acephalgic migraine or migraine aura without headache. I don't know if these apply to you or not, but just wanted to give you the right words - somebody did that for us and it made all the difference in our ability to research. I don't have a definitive article for you - mainly we were trying to overturn the TIA diagnosis. Good luck.

You might want to consider having a carotid doppler done as these sx you list were the same ones I had before my endardectomy to clean out my left carotid artery.

This is just a thought.
