Hello, I had twins (1 boy & 1 girl) back in August. I was only 5 months preg. and they were born, boy weighing 1lb 15oz & girl weighing 1lb 9oz. They both had inner cranial brain bleeds, my son had a grade 3 bleed and my daughter had a grade 3 on the left side and grade 4 on the right. My son is fine and the problem resolved on it own, however my daughter spent 5 months in the NICU and had 2 shunt surgeries, they first put in a subgalial shunt because she wasn't big enough for the VP shunt. In November the put in the VP shunt. I applied for SSI when they were about 1mo. old and they both got approved for it. I think they may discontinue my son's, but they told me my daughter would prob get hers for a while. Just to let you know she's doing GREAT, growing and developing well. We do recieve early intervention for the both of them because of their prematurity. If u need help just write back.
