Prayers going up. Man that is scary. I just read your reply in the roll call and have been thinking of you through all the latest seizures with Megs being so similar to Becca's case.

I forgot to mention she seemed a little shaky after the vomitting. Nothing that made me run for the diastat, but weird... I am sending her to the dr. with her dad today. I am going to type a little thing for him to take with otherwise he won't know what happened and he won't ask the right questions. I just can't take off work... And I'll make him stop by and let me know how it went.

Last year at about this time she had a series of nasty seizures that got us stuck in the hospital and she totally regressed. It took her a while to figure out how to sit up, crawl and cruise furniture again... and her 2nd shuntaversary is coming up in about a week and a half.

Hopefully she isn't building to something big....

I'm wondering if she could have had a/some simple partial sz(s). Mine look like nothing to most people, and even my parents said all they saw was my panic for the first 20 years or so. Now they'll tell you I pale, my eyes dilate, my voice takes on a strained quality to it, etc. We didn't even know what the dang things were 'til I was 25! As I'm sure you recall from my posts about them, too, my temp is affected and will just return to normal in about 24-36 hours.

Oh heather I am so sorry, poor megs. Maybe its a normal virus, I'll pray for that, its always so nice to have a normal kid illness every now and then huh? Lizard has a good point, temp is affected by seizures, Hailie always runs one during and after her partials, in addition she always throws up at some point during or after a seizure, hopefully not though, seizures are so icky. Keep us posted, I can relate to typing a page of info for dad to give to doc, in fact I have a similar concern in my update on #64. My husband is going to have to take over for a while in the medical procedures area. My new job will prevent me from any time off until after january, as scary as that sounds, dad needs to learn too. He's a bit clueless right now but will enjoy his upcoming crash courses when Hailie has her 1 to 3 more surgeries within the next month or so. Hang in there, sending lots of prayers and hugs for meg and mom. Keep us posted and take care.

WE HAVE A SORE THROAT! I have never been so happy for an illness! She is on antibiotic... they didn't think it was strep, but he said that if Megan "tells" us she doesn't feel good, it is time to treat it. I know that Megan has a temp after a seizure, but she also has had seizure from her temp rising too quickly. I think she may have had a very small simple partial right after the vomit... I didn't see her right before, but my dad is pretty sure she went from playing to puking... But after she was twitchy/shakey. And she was pretty sober for 20-30 min after so it is possible. I was dreading "the big one" so I checked her a lot last night... and I am SO exhausted. Keeping up with my kiddos at work today was kinda hard. She is acting much better today though. Chris stayed home with her today and then when I got home to be with her he went to work. She took a 4 hour nap this afternoon and when she woke up she was much happier. She isn't real interested in food, but that's ok cause she is thirsty. I don't mind the food thing as long as she is staying hydrated.

Good, good. . . what a relief!

Those dang seizures. I think I got the school a little too worried as they let me know about every little thing now. Ah well.

We started lamictal last night. It will take 3-4 months to get up on that and off keppra. ugh.

I find it odd that both neuros we have seen have mentioned topomax and trileptal, but have not recommended either for Becca - and Megs and her are so similar. This new one said trileptal could be an option, but lamictal was better for Becca. He said he did not want to use topomax on her, but I forget why. Hmmm...

I just hope - whatever it ends up being - that the right one(s) are found so that our girlies will stop their little seizure sisterhood.

We saw the new NS today and liked him a lot. Says she would be a candidate for ETV again down the line if this shunt ever failed. We have a sleep-deprived EEG and and MRI later this month. We'll know more then. No seizures for over a week now, thank God.

Congrats on the new job and going back to school! Sounds like a really busy time your way!

Give that sweet Megan a hug from us. I hope her throat feels better soon, and that her head continues to be fine.

Thanks Kathleen! Our neuro said that the trileptal and topamax are great for the kind of seizures Megs has. I have found that they don't have drastic side effects. She had some mood swings when we worked her dose of topa. up, but about 2 days of the new dose, and she was back to her typical 2 year old self. We don't have any major tests scheduled for anytime soon. Her next MRI is scheduled for June. And we don't have an EEG on the schedule right now, but it might be something we need to do soon if this is the way it's going to be.

Good luck with the new med. We need to get these girls settled down... I don't think our princesses need any more drama than just being a girl!
