Hi I've been on Clomipramine for about two years now (175 mg up to 250mg) and about 50-100 luvox. I know the luvox increases the blood levels greatly of the clomipramine and i even had toxicity before becasue i had such a high blood level. My pychiatrist told us to taper 50 mg a week or 2 weeks? I dont remember...but anway i was off it eventually for about a month and i had to go bacvk to the hospital becuase i was feeling so terrible and the idiots there didin't even consider that it might have been severe withdrawal symptoms (i couldn't even eat)

Hi ~ Tapering 50mg per week is too fast!! I would not taper any more than 10mg per week -- and that might even cause problems, but certainly not to the point that 50mg would! That's excessive!!
No wonder you felt awful and had to go to the hospital !! Whoever told you to taper like that surely doesn't understand medications & the body's reaction to stopping them!! I hope you're feeling better now. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee
